Colorado city officials accused of hiding gas leak from residents

Feb. 6 - ARVADA - City officials have spent the past weeks expressing outrage about gas leaking underground from Public Service's massive natural-gas storage facility on the outskirts of Arvada.

The company, Arvada leaders said, failed to inform them of such problems.

But residents, a business owner who left because of the leaking gas and others say Arvada officials shouldn't be so shocked.

They say that the city and its economic development arm had information and complaints for years about potential problems at the plant, but officials ignored the warnings in order to protect Arvada's economic development interests.
