spokane

greenspun.com : LUSENET : It's All About Joe 90: The Discussion Board : One Thread

well, i thought i might as well post HERE some stuff about the spokane show since i have posted just about everywhere else about about except the one place the most Joe 90 fans actually hang out.

The official set list as stolen by me off the stage (no, kidding, actually Craig gave it to me): blurred, ferris, bombs, flatline, arrive, truth, everybody, drive, gone, road, cars. Cars Go By was on the set but was not played. I had been asking for it all week and I was so happy when i saw it on the set list in Spokane...but for whatever reason they didn't play it. I guess i can live since I did hear it during sound check in Seattle.

I had never been to Outback Jacks and will probably never ever go back. There was a drunken fifty year old trying to get me to dance with him during the show, and numerous other guys hitting on me before the show. not normal people...very, very freaky people. i was glad i was not there alone :)

the performance was really good, but the crowd was very drunken. there was a lot of dancing, but also people trying to get autographs (on their chests, no less) in the middle of the show. Some girls were buying them drinks, but one of them got spilled and there was a big pile of ice at the edge of the stage and some people thought it would be funny to throw it at them. well, they were pretty gracious about the first two or three each, and then it started to get irritating so i reached out and slid it all on the floor. i was all like, no, don't throw ice at my friends :)

chris said that Truth was for me, which was way cool. that is something i never would have expected and totally made my night.

here is something i found interesting: people kept asking me if they are brittish. i think that must have some connection to why they seemed to get compared a lot to Oasis.

Seattle reviews on their shows were mixed. One was pretty bad, the other said they had strong vocals. i never checked the Spokane paper...i don't know if they were written up at all. I'll check on that.

Kelly :)

i guess it's time to teach you the super secret Joe 90 love ambassador handshake, too. you've arrived, baby!

i'm glad you had a great time at the show, and got some revenge on the ice-throwing assholes. i hate that crap. why, oh why do people feel the need to just be complete dicks?

oh, and i downloaded your setlists, and totally forgot to put them up on the site -- those will go up tonight.

below is the good Seattle review. this one's from the Seattle Post- Intelligencer, and it's by Gene Stout. yay Gene.

"Counting Crows performed a second show last night. Originally booked for December, this week's rescheduled shows featured opening sets by Joe 90, a pop-rock quartet that just released its debut album, "Dream This."

Among the songs Joe 90 performed Wednesday night was its new single, "Drive," featuring powerful vocals by lead singer Chris Seefried. Late in the show, Seefried and his bandmates joined Counting Crows on stage for a somewhat chaotic but entertaining sing-along."

see that? you guys were chaotic but entertaining. that's everything a band should be, in my opinion.

that will go up in the archive of reviews in the "Talk" section of the site. i won't post the bad ones. i'll just pretend like i never saw them. ignorance is bliss, ya know.

to everyone going to the LA show tonight, have a blast!!

5 more days till NJ. i think i'm finally getting excited.

color me giddy,

Review from Seattle.

I'm not sure if the Seattle review was good or bad. The guy said Dream This is unlistenable. He said that most people ran for the lobby during our show. The ones who stayed were bored.

I wonder what this guy is into. Counting Crows review was even worse. Its all good for a laugh.

Right on Craig. Reviewers are often more interested in demonstrating how cool they are than anything else. Anyone who wasn't blown away by the Counting Crows show that EYE saw in Seattle doesn't deserve to spit on the ground Joe 90 walk on. You guys rock. And so do your fans. See you tonight on the Pier!!!!

exactly. the real question we should all be asking ourselves is: whats entertainment WITHOUT chaos?! all the forms of entertainment i participate in involve huge degrees of chaos.

thanks for the review, kelly! i really regret not going to that show now... i thought i wouldn't be able to, because i had a midterm on friday that i'd just get back in time for, but as it turned out, it was an essay, not a test... oops. wish i'd known that before.. if i'm going to flunk school anyway, i should at least be able to get more joe 90 shows out of it. i wish i had money so that i could make it to the one tonight... but the $60 in my bank account is not going to cover it, unfortunately. i hope those of you going have a great time though.

those seattle reviewers have no clue what they're talking about, kris and i bought that paper and then just threw it away as soon as we read that... those were awesome shows, as they always are.

mike, how do i get your job?
