Redwood needles

I love the color and the texture this. There is also a really nice flow to all the leaves. My only nitpick would be the grey leaves that are underneath the green leaves at the top right hand side. Well done.

I like the color but it looks a bit flat on my monitor. Where you using a large amount of light of a silver reflector or the like?? However, if it had too much color saturation, the image would look like a duotone and be no fun.

I agree with the comments about the leave in the background. I also like the directionality of the leaves.

I shot it under heavy overcast skies using available light. This image is actually a bit brighter than the way the scene appeared to my eye at the time. I bracketed the exposures, and the over-exposed one just looked better to me. The darker images lost all of the detail in the brown needles. Perhaps a lower-contrast film would have worked better here....
