Fed Treasurer of Australia closes bank account because of bad service ( including late bank statements)

This from Australia's Federal Treasurer:

'The bank couldn't produce statements on time and it was giving bad service and I got the message that they probably weren't interested in my account so I took it elsewhere,' he said.

'I say to people that the best thing to do when your bank gives you bad service is to go to another bank.'

(wonder why the bank couldn't produce statements on time? couldn't be y2k of course!)

Costello closes bank account because of bad service

Source: AAP | Published: Sunday February 6, 11:52 AM

Federal Treasurer Peter Costello said today the service provided by banks was declining and admitted he had closed a personal account in protest.

Mr Costello agreed the Australian public disliked banks and suggested anyone experiencing difficulties with their bank follow his lead and close their account.

'Look, there is a lot of disquiet in the community about the banks, there's no doubt about it, and people feel that bank service is declining and all of us who deal with banks, including myself by the way, have experienced this phenomena,' he told the Nine Network's Sunday program.

'You know, service is declining, there's no doubt about that.'

Mr Costello said he had closed a bank account quite recently because of a lack of service.

'The bank couldn't produce statements on time and it was giving bad service and I got the message that they probably weren't interested in my account so I took it elsewhere,' he said.

'I say to people that the best thing to do when your bank gives you bad service is to go to another bank.'

Carl,

I saw part of this interview on TV yesterday. I thought our illustrious Treasurer looked embarrassed, but it may be my vivid imagination.

Meanwhile interest rates are up. Not inflationary we're told...

Of course it wasn't y2k you idiot. I'd still like to know what criteria you use for your cut and paste reports that you rip off. What are you gonna report in March? One day you'll look back and wonder why you wasted so much time gathering useless information.
