Scientist: Israeli Reactor Is Too Old to Function Safely The Associated Press

JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel's nuclear reactor is too old to continue functioning safely and should be closed, an Israeli scientist who worked at the facility said Sunday. Israeli environmentalists have long called for greater controls at the desert reactor just outside the southern town of Dimona. But the call from Uzi Even, a former top scientist there, was likely to focus increased attention on the site.

"The place could cause serious damage" after 40 years of continuous use, Even told Israel radio. "That's the reason such facilities of this age are usually closed."

Tell them to go stand in line behind the North Koreans and Ukranians, waiting for the US to give them a new one. I mean, that is the upshot that I read between the lines.
