This article describes some of the "asymmetrical" warfare techniques...such as terrorism, computer hacking, economic sabotage, assassination of US citizens...that are the (Mainland) Chinese military's strategy to defeat the USA.

[For those of you who don't know, "The Art of War" by Sun Tsu (spelling of author's name may vary with translation) is a classic military guide. It talks primarily strategy instead of tactics... If you haven't read it, I suggest that you do...]

Asymetry is staggering in its potential for effieciencies.
As our species is bilaterally symetrical including (for the most part and for most people) the brain, just wrapping the mind around some of the attributes which come from applying asymetry as an aspect of a solution is fascinating.

We actually have beautiful examples in human history. E.G. the Proa, the polyneasian sail vessel which does not tack as we understand it, has asymatry as an aspect at several levels and is the global speed champion of purely sail vessels.

A further bit of efficiency which came of this, is that the height of the proa cabin from the water surface may well have led to the method of navigation derived from wave patterns.

We are studying and applying asymetry to problems at this lab I work for. At the moment we have an experiment which promises to transmit electricity at huge levels (Very high DC voltage) with very little line loss through an asymetric push approach. Also have seen that the polynesian approach to wave reading can be applied to other wave forms than water.

Absolutely cool stuff.

As for the chinese, or any aggressor, I prefer mayamoto mushasi *famous samurai author and cave dweller* who said,
"rely upon human nature. Surrender early. Become your enemies' friend. When he is relaxed, strike without warning the fatal blow."

Besides, with all the UFO activity in China, they may have far bigger problems than us to worry about.
