Will there ever be Burning Woman?

I wonder if women feel left out that only the male figure is incinerated. However, burning a female figure might get complaints from sensitive feminists.

Water Woman will never burn. She represents live, growth, protector of nature, and the rebirth of a distroyed goddess culture. When I created her she was to bring water to a dry desert. Now she has become what her admirers have expresseed to me. I had no idea she would effect people the way she does. She's now on a tour of California this summer.

You could also dip into the mythology. Essentially, the Goddess is eternal, and her consort is the "Lord of the Dance of Death and Rebirth." (Not to be mistaken for an Irish Fop) Each year the Oak king gives way to the Holly king on Yule and the Holly gets burned to feed and heal the Oak king in summer. Both are aspects of the Lady's consort.

Yes there will be a Burning Woman. Look for her long weekend celebration in August 2003 on the west coast of Canada.

You may take note that the burning man sculpture has neither genitals nor any other gender specific qualities and also has a rather androgynous figure -- it is really more burning human -- the problem is in our language. The use of the word man in this case, is like mankind -- I suppose derived from humankind. Man is used instead of human because of the immediate feel of the phrase. Are there any comments from women reading this that feel they identify with the form of the sculpture, name aside?

In 90 and 91, before theme camps, (the first 2 years in the desert) there was a project that consisted of mostly women that was really cool -- they made a brick retained heat oven (a mound on the desert floor) and baked wonderful goddess sculpted loaves of bread, which they served during the burn... ahhhh the good old days.

Of course, more recently there has been Water Woman, built by a guy, but absolutely divine! I dream of water woman.

The Goddess spirit is alive and well at Burning Wo/Man (Burning Person, Burning It, Burning Being, Burning Citizen, Burning Homo Sapien, Burning Individual, Burning Creature, Burning Entity, Burning Thingamajigy -- Burning whatever you want to call it).
