Dear Sir: Was Edward(?) Whymper the first person to climb Mont Blanc? And Is Mont Blanc considered one of the natural wonders of the world?

Edward Whymper led the first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865. Mt. Blanc was first climbed 79 years earlier by Balmat and Paccard.I do not believe Mt. Blanc is one of the 7 wonders of the world. However, I don't believe there is actually any "official" list of the 7 wonders of the world.

Outside Magazine recently had an interesting Q&A on the (fictious) "Seven Natural Wonders of the World". See:http://www.outsidemag.com/magazine/0799/9907wild.html
