Truckers Say Shippers Need to Pay for Fuel Price Increases or Face Service Disruptions TORONTO, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - The Ontario rucking Association is warning shippers that unless they begin paying fair and reasonable freight rates that reflect sky-rocketing diesel fuel costs, disruptions in transportation service like those that hit Quebec last fall could be in the offing. The price of diesel fuel in Ontario has increased by over 176% over the past year. Increases so far this year are comparable to those last seen during the Gulf War.

What's intriuging is how slowly this situation is developing compared to the instant rollover failure myth.<<

Great post - Patrick. If things are this bad after just a few weeks since the CDC. Imagine what it will be like in April/May.

If things are this bad after just a few weeks since the CDC. Imagine what it will be like in April/May.

Amazing to even ponder the effects if this continues or gets worse.

Can't a suspect be convicted of murder if enough circumstantial evidence mounts up against them?

This mound is growing quickly.

Perfect comment on the situation. I always knew this thing would never happen the way I imagined.

If oil goes up much higher and remains there, IMHO it could pop the bubble.com and that would be more than enough to crash the rest of the market. Then the defaults start and the dominoes won't stop until the only jobs left will be food and government related. Because no one will have money. The situation is completly different then the thirties.

Mike:

The answer to your question is usually no. Think O.J. Simpson.

Quite a few people would call it a "scenareo that didn't happen".

Now if only the Canadian truckers were getting DISproportionally bit by the fuel increases compared to our homegrown Yankee ruckers:) Then it might not be so lucrative to send all that subsidized "free trade" grain, cattle, hogs, and lumber down here, eh? P.S. Ever tried to ship a hog north of the border? Go NAFTA! Eh?

Sorry, that was mean-spirited. I realize those poor truckers are just workin' stiffs like verybody else, caught in a squeeze about now. They didn't "negotiate" NAFTA or any other such attempt to screw the public out of their nations' sovereignty. It's just that in my neck of the woods there are a lot of farmers, loggers, and mills going down because some misguided PolySci and Econ majors with suits thought they knew what's best for all of us. Funny, I always thought an American gov't. would look first to foster AMERICAN interests, that's all.
