What about your present life would startle your teenage self, or at least your normal self?--Al

my back was injured at age 12, it grew worse over the years as the doctor said it would.

what would have startled my teenage self as well as my normal (whatever "normal" is) self, is the fact that i was able to work until age 69 and still be driving a car and getting around pretty good for an old geezer at 78. didn't forsee that i would last that long and still be looking at things to see and things to do.

My teenage self would be surprised that I haven't had any children yet. She would also be surprised that I'm not acting or singing, something I did with much relish as a teenager.

That I moved away from California. That I abandoned music to pay rent. That I never keep in touch with people who were my best friends in high school. That I look so much like my father.

That sometime after reaching age 30 and having two children I started to becoming my mother . . .

That I became a housewife, for cryin' out loud, with 3 kids even... I was suposed to be hip, trendy, a pace-setter. Jeez. THe me them would be even more surprised that it really isn't all that bad, and now I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Oh yeah, i turned into my mom too. I also realized she's not as crazy as I thought she was.
