400mm Takumar Filters--- Welcome Shawn

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

The 400 Takumar comes with a filter ring for the use of rear filters just like the 600 f/4 and 800 f/4. Just bought a 400 used and it didn't have the filter ring. I noticed that a 67mm filter will screw into another threaded area just in front of the normal filter area. If a 67mm filter is used in lieu of the standard 77mm with ring, will there be a vignetting problem? Anyone know the filter size of the front thread? I will do a field test on this lens in the future.

Thanks Steve. Now that I've taken a full-time office job after 6 months of trying to get "into the business" of photography (printing/behind the counter/anywhere), I hope to be adding a lot of equipment over the next while, mostly lenses as I'm sure you've gathered from the few posts I've contributed to so far. This site is a perfect guide in the pursuit of the world's heaviest gear rack (used to be called a 'rack' in the music business...I guess it's the same with photography? I mean cases if it doesn't translate well). And it seems quite easy-going here, too, which I especially like and value.

Sorry I can't--yet--comment on the 400. shawn
