joe90-a-roni the san francisco treat

greenspun.com : LUSENET : It's All About Joe 90: The Discussion Board : One Thread

i just got back from san francisco. i have been wearing the same clothes for 24 hours, i've had 2 hours sleep, i am tired and greasy and disgusting (don't you all want me now?) i don't know which i want more - a shower or my bed. and yet the minute i'm home i'm right on the computer headed for aimee's message board. how sad is that?

i had the best weekend. erin is so much fun. the bums outside the warfield were totally scary. my favorite was the one who grabbed the poor guy waiting in line in front of me, turned him toward me and told me that "he's really shy, but he wanted me to say hello to you for him" and this kid looked completely horrorstruck and erin and i laughed hysterically. but maybe you had to be there.

and yes i did go to the left so that i could dance with erin, despite the fact that it put me directly in front of dan for the cc portion of the evening. i think i deserve combat pay for that.

i was so excited when joe90 came on i don't even remember adam d. introducing them. it was such a great set, but much much too short. i was scribbling the setlist down in my notebook because i knew that i had to report back here. my handwriting is bad under the best of circumstances, and most of what i've written doesn't even look like english. i think it was blurred, ferris wheel, nov. bombs, flatline static (with david i.), arrive (w/ben mize), truth, drive (w/dan in his orange leather pants, ew), why don't we do it in the road, and gone. but chris gave erin the setlist so if i've gotten it wrong, she'll have it. and the setlist did have printed right on the bottom "i think the girl in the front row likes you." that made me laugh.

i love Arrive, i wish i could remember more of it. everything is such a blur right now. i think one line went something like "are you late when you arrive?" Gone is amazing. i especially liked the it's alright part.

i was lucky enough to have gary's fan club standing right beside me screaming his name. they were from la and before cc came on erin was telling them about the show next monday. one girl looked as us and said "are you . ....following them? (emphasis on following) we weren't sure how to respond to that. but at least she didn't call me a groupie like the woman at the boston show.

joe90 wasn't even off the stage and erin had her cell phone out so we could call sue and aimee. but they were out having their own fun. i'm a little scared about nj and pittsburgh now too.

i think i was more excited about seeing joe90 than cc. but then cc came on, i thought "oh yeah, they're pretty good too." the entire show was just so wonderful. and the encore was the longest i've ever seen. but erin missed it. some girls decided to climb over her trying to get to chris during hanginaround and she ran for higher ground.

sunday erin and i wandered down to the wharf. we went to ghiradelli's and had hot chocolate and wrote postcards to jenn, jill, aimee and sue. we had entirely too much fun doing it too. but please destroy them after you read them. we took a 1 hour cruise. not a 3 hour one, but we still had to sing the theme to gilligan's island. and then the brady bunch naturally followed. i became fascinated by a german tourist dressed all in black leather, with scary knee high boots with buckles up the sides and thick heels. i kept trying to take his picture without him noticing me.

i may have to move to san francisco. i love it there. and the cruise was perfect. it was such a grey cloudy day and the water was rough and the wind was blowing and the spray was coming up over the side it felt like rain. i was in my element. i want to live on the water. alcatraz looked so beautiful. it was such a vivid green against the grey.

afterwards we wandered along the pier looking for someplace to eat and singing november bombs. have i mentioned what a great weekend it was? and i'm so glad erin was there to share it with me. it made it so much more fun.

i should never post when i'm this tired. this is probably completely incoherent. when i got off the airplane in pittsburgh the steward was saying "buh bye" i swear to god. it's the little things in life.

if this cuts off my post, i am going to be so pissed

Aha! I finally found you all!

I am impressed.

So I am no longer the reigning tv-show-theme monarch. Thank God.

Glad to hear you gals had such a good time. Dalt's weekend kind of sucked but hey, whatcanyado?

I'm off to see the wizard now, i guess.

If this post cuts off, Kristin is gonna be so pis

Kristin, So you've worn the same clothes for 24 hours-- are you Adam Durtiz? Sorry, I couldn't help it. I got a bit tired of seeing the Sea Bright shirt through out the summer. I'm glad you had a great time. San Francisco is where I spent my honeymoon and I truly love that city. I would live there if it were possible. Chicago(Hey, Chris!) is a close third--the UK being my first choice. All offer good food and great walks. Welcome back--by the way.

Dalton-- you'll always be the king of TV themes. I am far from a genius. I am just capable of coming up with great one liners from time to time. I'm sure Kristin will credit "L'eau du Crap"-the dog shit cologne, as one of my shining moments.

Sue and Aimee and Barth-O-- glad to hear that you've recovered from any sort of CC, Kaluha, Kareoke incidents. The best Kareoke song I've ever seen was Eric McCormack-when he was on Lonesome Dove-the Series doing "I Think I Love You" (nod to Barth's D.C fascination here). I think I almost peed my pants from laughing so hard.

Glad you found us, Karen. Come to Pittsburg.

Hi, Jill, Jenn, Lori, Erin, Jessica, AJ,and the Joe 90 boys! If I've forgotten anyone, I'm terribly sorry.

It's Monday and I am tired from shoveling heavy snow for an hour.

Later, Ry

-- Ry (Rypress@aol.com), January 31, 2000.

karen, now that you've found us.....you are required to come to pittsburgh!!! muhahaha!!

snow really sucks. i almost didn't make it up the big hill today. they hadn't even plowed by the time i left for school, AND school was delayed 2 hrs. um hellooooo city of chicopee dept of public works! get on da' ball for g-d's sake!

i loved the title of Kristin's post, btw! it made me laugh :)

im going to go read about Pastoralist cultures and wait for erin to come online! ;)

so jill, on the joe90 board you can admit to barely making it up the hill, but on the cc board you are all happy and all "i made it up the hill in the neon! all bow down and praise jill the one who beat the mighty snow hill!" sheesh.

lol

sorry.

ok dalton....lol**

i exaggerated my story on the CC board a bit, ok?! i have to save face over there!! they like my drama stories about leon the neon!!! exaggeration = DRAMA!! ok?!

i can tell the truth here. cause i dont MIND if you all laugh at me :P

yay! my pics are up now ;) I feel like a celebrity... never had my pic on the internet before(except for my little webcam thing, but the quality was really crappy)

I'm very hurt cuz I didn't get a (hey AJ!) when Ry mentioned chicago *sniff sniff* ;)

I'm done wasting space

oh god. i love reviews. i love kristin and erin for being just as psycho/anal/obsessed as the rest of us. ;)

did you guys try calling me..? i got a call that i missed and did *69 and it was a 562 area code and i don't know where the heck that is.

i'm glad you girls had so much fun!

hi dalton!

i am using way too many exclamation points. you're all just going to have to deal with that because i am feeling quite exclamatory. yikes, is that even the right context?

whatever.

HI JILL!

this post better not cut me off...let's hope for succes

-- jenn* (jennmcm@aol.com), January 31, 2000.

so, this is where you all are. i hope i'm not invading. this is really an amazing site, aimee (i'm sure you hear that all the time as much as regis hears all the "is that your final answer?" comments!)

sf was a great show as most have mentioned. im glad tracy and i was able to make it. we weren't sure until last wednesday if we could get tickets. luckily, ticketmaster released floor tickets online.

nice meeting erin, too. i can't beleive you lurked in the cc folder for 2 1/2 years??? i guess you were able to smuggle the camera in? julie had hers confiscated 3/4 thru the show.

it was a pleasant surprise to see kristin in line behind us. at least i had time to give you a hug. during the show, i kept glancing over to your side of the floor, and the look of pure joy in your face during both shows was priceless. i noticed that you didn't extend your hand out to adam when he was over on your side reaching out to the crowd. what's up with that??? ;-)

joe90 is supposed to play here tonight in arcadia. anyone know anything about it? we found out too late and can't make it.

well, i'm going to go and surf this site a little longer.

peace, jay

-- jay (leminade@aol.com), January 31, 2000.

see i knew i left out so much with my sf review!! like all the cc people i met. it was nice to finally meet julie! and jay! you were so nice. it was really appreciated, like, muchly :] you were bright and sparkly!

chris was so sweet about the setlist. it was surprising. but a happy memory :] i'm like. squish! you know? hahahah. kristin said i'm not as hyper as i appear when i post :p shes so much fun. especially when drinking hot choclate and singing culture club. Garys fan club were funny. hee. i couldnt hear them as much as sue though. i was telling them about the la show. i'm a good advertiser man.

oh and when annoying girls climb on you, running for higher ground, as kristin said, is a good thing. it results in fun conversations about the cure and paul mccartney (which im listening to now!). yay.

Amanda Joys photos are SO ADORABLE! i love them. i feel all smooshy looking at them! i need to take some in LA :] (yay in a week!)

i love jenn* - yes that was my cell! :[ sorry we missed you. i was going cell crazy. it was just so damn convinent.

yes jay, i lurked cc for 2 1.2 years. what can i say!!! i did get my camera in, but i didn't use it at all. i always sneak my camera into shows. just to have it. photographers security, what can i say. i feel naked without it. whether i use it or not (which i didnt.) - i read julies review. im surprised they didnt assault her after the dropped it outside. heh.

ohh you could see us during the show? i was a BIG BEAMING MESS during the joe show. hahaha. i couldnt see you guys at all. sucks to be short! grr! and no, sorry - i'm not one to extend my hand to touch someone during a show :p everyone else around us was quite fond of it though. but i got sprinkled with adam sweat. or spit. i wasn't sure at some points. and i already cleared up the arcadia thing with jay so no one else get confused - next week IN santa monica! whee!

okay im rambling. wheeeeeee

-- erin*89 (feelingtornados@aol.com), January 31, 2000.

heh heh heh. Jenn said *69. Heh heh. 69. Heh.

I am so multi-posting on here because it is so much easier reading it than on the CC folder. Plus I feel like if I put down random shit in here I can get away with it better. In the CC folder I get bitched at more.

Whoops I just thought up some CC content and that is so rare I oughta go post. Yeee-ha. Get along little doggies. Any of you younger ones in here ever watch "Hey Dude?" There was Melody, the down home girl everybody can relate to (well i didnt relate to the girl part beca...grr...), and Brad, the stuck up bitch, and Ted, the well- meaning dumbass, and Danny, the asshole know-it-all. Thats all I really remember. Terrible show. I used to watch it every day. Now I know Jenn *must* have watched this one--i dont care how old she was.

everytime i see the title of the last Joe90 album i laugh because the picture i get is one of the guys saying "dream this, bitch!"

Done cursing again.

-- erin*89 (feelingtornados@aol.com), January 31, 2000.

amanda joy, your pics are GREAT!!!!! another blonde! woowhoo!!! ;)

dalt - i used to LOVE "hey, dude!" because it had horses in it. not many, but every once in awhile they would have them riding and stuff. so thats why i watched!

im so glad jay and karen found us! the more cool people that post here, the better :)

i get to work tomorrow. just call me godiva girl. incentive for coming to the NJ and PA shows - ill bring choc-o-lot!!!!!

i just spend an hour and a half on my parents bed with my doggy. it was very nice :)

im outtie. or sumthin' :P

Oh! Happy Day!! Reviews from Kristin-san, awesome pics from Amanda Joy (none with Gary? and how could your sis say Adam was the funny looking one? that's such a good pic of him!), and posts from Karen and Jay!!! Woo!Hoo! I'm so glad you two found your way here. Karen, Jill is right - you MUST come to Pittsburgh AND New Jersey, if only to feel the love of having 6 awesome people getting all ga-ga over you coming - it's la-la-la-lovely :)

Ha! I just did that thing where you yawn and spit squirts out all on it's own! It must be the Jay factor.

Um...I just ran out of energy and words, so I'll just say Hi everyone, and Bye everyone...you all rock. OH!!! I got my BTTWGTW cd's in the mail today!!! Yay me! Okay, I'm really going now. Late-ah!! ~Chris

-- Chris{notSeefried} (TankGrrL29@aol.com), January 31, 2000.

glad you all had a wonderful time in SF! yay! i'm having major CC and Joe90 concert withdrawl! lol. and great pictures, AJ! I think I do remember seeing you at the show and i think we were out there by the merchandise booth after the show at the same time. coo0L! now joe90 just needs to come back to chicago, so we can have a gathering! i got my BTTWGTW cd today too, but i got a defective one! "Anna Begins" skips! ARGH! do you think there's a chance they'll send me another one?

-- Kristin(#2) (k-thomas2@nwu.edu), February 01, 2000.

jill, i'm glad my subject heading amused you. i'm looking at it this morning thinking i really shouldn't be allowed to post when i'm tired.

yay! karen and jay found us. jay - i kept looking over to your side of the floor too. i got little glimpses of most of you, mostly i just saw tracy looking completely absorbed by the music. part of what i love about concerts is sharing the excitement with people who are just as caught up in it as you are. i wish i could have seen julie's face when cc played ghost train.

i think sf was one of the best concerts i've been to. which makes me feel a little less insane for flying all the way across the country for 1 show.

Amanda Joy, i love your pictures! you're so cute. jenn, yes we did call you. sorry not to leave a message, that was my fault. i hit a button or something and disconnected it. but thank you for your message, it made us so happy to get it. jill we wanted to call you too but i don't have your phone number.

gary's fan club was actually very nice. and not at all into shoving their way closer, which is a quality i always appreciate in the people standing around me. when erin left before the encore the same one who wanted to know if we were "following" joe90 grabbed my arm and asked me if erin was going backstage. she seemed very excited by the idea. i had to laugh.

walking back to our hotel on sat night erin and i went into this all night grocery/liquor store because we hadn't eaten in 12 hours and were ready to fall over. big mistake. scary place. and some guy tried to get us to buy him beer because he had forgotten his wallet.

my first post was cut off by the way. but is was just the part where i apologized for any typos so i'm not pissed. jenn! it's cutting your posts off too? it must be a mac thing. i don't feel so singled out now.

i had the best weekend. have i mentioned that? i wish you all could have been there. ..........

-- kristin (mehitabelx@aol.com), February 01, 2000.

I'm very hurt cuz I didn't get a (hey AJ!) when Ry mentioned chicago *sniff sniff* ;)

Chicago (Hey AJ!) Sorry I forgot to mention you in the previous post.

Ry

-- Ry (Rypress@aol.com), February 01, 2000.

Ahhhh.. The pressure.

I'd love to hear more about the Pitt Plans before I commit, but all the positive vibes seem alluring.

-- Snotty Butch Karen ;) (msroxan@aol.com), February 01, 2000.

Hey Karen! You're a snotty Butch, and I'm a snotty Femme - what more do you need to know??? :P

Seriously, I'm not sure of too much, as I came on board a bit late. I still don't know where we're sleeping in NJ other than I'm sleeping with Kristin-san. Maybe we should start an e-mail list so we don't bore people with details here?

I do know that the Pitt show is $5 to get in, right? And NJ should be cheap (relatively so, anyway.) I'm driving with Kristin-san from Pitt to NJ, and the eastern grrls are meeting us there. Then I think we're all caravaning back to Pitt for the show on Sunday night. We have rooms already there, right? I should shut up in case I'm passing on wrong info. Seriously - does anyone feel like starting an email list to make sure we're all on the same page with the details? (Put Karen on, because now she has to come.) (And was it Erin who said she was working on it too?)

Happy Tuesday night everyone. And sorry about any message board faux pas....somehow I missed orientation. ~Chris
