You got me on that one.

Thanks for that very accurate recipe! Don't think I'll try it for a few more months, but it sure sounds delicious!

( Now, I'm almost afraid to ask) Do you have recipe (for homemade shake-n-bake) that I could use for chicken or pork chops, just until it gets a little warmer outside?

What I do for my own shake and bake varies with my mood, but the basics I use are:

1 large baggie 2 cups (or use your judgement for what you are covering) cork flakes (plain)

Crush the corn flakes (while in the baggie) with a rolling pin or whatever.

Then add spices to taste (italian, chinese, or??).

Sometimes I add flour to give it a different consistency. Actually, with a baggie and corn flakes you can have the world of flavor at your fingertips!

Oh, it is very good to dip the chicken or pork chops into a beaten egg in a bowl so the shake-n-bake sticks better.

Just use your imagination and have fun ;-)

My Son loves to cook, and he found this recipe. We like it better than shake and bake :-)

8 pieces of chicken (we skin ours) 2 eggs beaten 4 tablespoons can milk 1 cup bread crumbs 1 cup potato flakes (instant potatoes) 1/2 tsp garlic salt - optional 5 tbsp melted butter 1 tbsp. oil

Skin chicken, wash, and pat dry and set aside

In a small bowl, beat eggs and milk

in another bowl combine bread crumbs, potato flakes and the garlic salt.

Dip chicken in egg mixture and then roll in crumb mixture

place chicken in a baking pan (I usually line this with foil) & sprinkle with melted butter and oil

Bake at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes. Increase temperature to 450 and bake for 10 to 15 minutes depending on thickness till chicken is done. Juice should run clear when pierced with a fork.

Serve immediately with your choice of side dishes.

You can also cut off the tops of tomatoes and sprinkle with crumb mixture and bake along side with the chicken if you like baked tomatoes.

Thanks Beth,

That sounds good! I'll try your recipe next....

I used sammie's corn flake hint and had good results. After I breaded, (crushed cornflakes + herbed parmesan) my chicken, I sprayed it lightly with butter flavored popcorn spray.

And thanks to catherine for the laugh.

This board is still a great place for sharing hints and tips.
