OT: STOCK MARKET signaling a Bush wipeout???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

CNBC's Wollman just said that the Yield Curve was NOT signalling recession, but a SERIOUS prospect of a Bush (and Republican) wipeout. That would produce NO tax cuts, and that is spooking the markets...interest rate hikes having already been priced in.

Any thoughts and opinions??

Could this Democrat Dog and Phoney show be slated to continue??

Ooops,

Meant to say that the Stock Market had already digested a double Whack on interest rates, but the selloff in stocks is signslling a Bush / GOP wipeout in the cards. Is Wollman right??

NUTS !!!

-- goldbug (goldbug@mint.com), January 28, 2000.

Republicans,

Let this be a lesson to you the next time you attempt to railroad a popularly elected president. Do you really think America has forgotten your dispicable actions. You still don't GET IT do you?

So he lied about sex. Only moral morons would begrudge him that. Same old story, either live and think like I say or don't live.

Bill's real sin is that he's the best politition and slicker than a snail on teflon that you've ever seen.

If you think your going to stuff George W. down our throats, think again.

The nation has spoken, you do not hear.

Have a nice day, and prep.

-- Infidel (Barbarians@thegate.net), January 28, 2000.

Folks:

You still don't get it: Clinton-Gore/Democrats and Bush/Republicans are agents for the same people.....your masters. If you really think it matters whether the Demublicans or the Republicrats get into office, guess again.

-- bz (beezee@statesville.net), January 28, 2000.

Hey, Infidel...you seem to have a passing familiarity with snails...what rock did you crawl out of??

-- Z (Z@Z.Z), January 28, 2000.

any thoughts on Alan Keyes? He seems to actually have a brain unlike George or Gore? Actually I think they are the same puppet and they just change clothes and makeup for the camera.

-- tress (tress@aol.com), January 28, 2000.

Hey there Infidel YOU MORON! I"M going to tell you just one time and then it's going to be someone else's turn. Bush or McCain will be the next Presidnent. I'll guarentee you that fact. This country needs to clean and sterilize the White House. It was a sacred and historic place untill that lip-biting lying degenerate and his fat ankled wife moved in. As for this wonderful economy you can thank the Reagan people and the current Majority in Congress. Get a life!

-- Liberal Hater (liberty@bell.com), January 28, 2000.

Hey Lib hater, what do you think of Alan Keyes? I heard that when C- span has open line questions they are mostly for Keyes. I being also a royal lib detester{never say hate, it's not nice} find him quite articulate and extremely intelligent, also he seems to have an enormous amout of dignity, something we've not seen for quite some time in the White House.

-- tress (tress@aol.com), January 28, 2000.

L.H. I agree with your assessment of the current occupant of the White House and of Mr. Reagan. I disagree that either Bush or McCain are any better than the current WH occupant. Both Bush and McCain are CFR and hand-picked by TPTB. If we are going to save this country and change directions (from becoming part of the NWO), we are going to have to elect a Constitutionalist. The only prospect that I see at this time is Buchanan. After Bush is selected as the Republican nominee, the press will unleash a boatload of trash about him, so the field will widen at that time.

-- Y2kObserver (Y2kObserver@nowhere.com), January 28, 2000.

Liberal hater,

So glad you showed up. As we all know only your ilk could possibly know the difference between right and wrong. You blow hard about morals, but when Clinton wagging the dog intervenes in murder, you are the first to scream bloody murder.

The nation is more observant than you think. Does the word CLOWNS mean any thing to you?

Allen Keyes may be the best candidate, but he's black. So whats your point?

-- Infidel (Barbarians@thegate.net), January 28, 2000.

Hey,Lib Hater,You have obviously heard the Bells ringing,BUT,You sure as hell don't know, were they're hanging!!

-- Liberator (Feeding@the Trough.com), January 28, 2000.

Hey there -tress- I don't care what color are President is as long as he brings dignity back into that office. It makes me want to puke when I think that grey haired dipstick dumped his load on a number of occasions in the same office that was used by Lincoln,FDR(I still like him), Reagan, and Bush. Makes you want to go take a bath and scrub really well.

-- Liberal Hater (liberty@bell.com), January 28, 2000.

Hey there-Infidel- You little piece of ilk. I'm a piece of ilk also like you say and damn proud of it so welcome to the crowd. You'll enjoy it once you get used to it. Take a flying F%$k thru a rolling donut. As for murder in this country, there WOULD NOT BE ANY if every homeowner in this country owned a gun and new how keep it safe and how to use it. Give it some thought you left-wing pervert!

-- Liberal Hater (liberty@bell.com), January 28, 2000.

I'm neither right or left wing. Just an observer. Not a Clinton lover or right hater.

I do have a problem when a political party thinks they have a manopoly on right and wrong.

BTW: Didn't see George Bush do anything about the balkens. Would have been politically inconvenient.

We get what we deserve.

-- Infidel (Barbarians@thegate.net), January 28, 2000.

Hey, how about a little civility, huh? On the issue, I dislike George Bush because he appears to be an intellectual lightweight and terribly inarticulate to boot. As mentioned earlier on a different thread, I do not like or trust John McCain because there appears to be major unresolved issues about him. I seriously question his loyalty to this great nation and our Constitution. We don't know nearly enough about what REALLY happened during his days in Vietnam. Was he really a prisoner, or a grateful and traitorous puppet for the Reds? Leaving politics aside, what about his character? It DOES matter!

Alan Keyes is a wonderful spokesman for this nation as "one nation under God" as spelled out by the Founding Fathers. He is a great man with great ideas. Unfortunately, he has ZERO chance of becoming President.

The President and her husband should be in a federal prison for the remainder of their useless, un-natural existence.

Since you all want to see Clinton in jail so bad for lying about the hummer, why can't you apply the same standards to your almighty leader Reagan, huh? Or did you all forget he tried to undermine the constitution by conducting a secret war that Congress had forbidden? Remember the Iran/Contra scandal? And don't give me that BS about him being out of the loop, if he was that out of control of his administration, he should have been out the door. Bunch of damn hypocrites, all of you. Listen carefully to Mr, Buchanan and he makes a great deal of sense. the gap widens weekly, Us<----------------------------->Super rich. A fact to contemplate, The top three IT magnates have more cash than The Whole population of China. And 300 of those meeting at Starvos tomorrow have more cash than 2/3rds of the whole flaming world! Hey Hank, I'm not the one who wants to elect Keyes (You should hear this guy talk about gays. Real turn the other cheek, judge not lest ye be judged, etc...Just the sort I want leading a country defined by it's diversity) or Buchanan (Hitler wasn't such a bad guy, just misunderstood).

-- seeing clearly (looking@partypimps.com), January 28, 2000.

Losing it,

Clinton is proposing a $350 billion tax cut. Bush is going to get wiped out, but that isn't affecting the markets. Everyone knows that Gore is going to win and continue the same economic policy as Clinton. If Bush were elected he would lie like his "no new taxes" daddy and we would immediately go into a recession, or worse.

Sorry Lib hater, Gore has got this one in the bag. Everyone can see right through that crooked scum Dubya Bush, he's a sneaky lying weasel just like his daddy.

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), January 28, 2000.

Infidel is a liberal masquerading as a moderate. Too funny. You don't think lying under oath is a problem chum? Why did judge Wright fine BC $90,000? Too funny. Your standards apply only to people considered conservative by your own twisted mind. Purgery and lying under oath are OK if it's done by a democrat eh? You obviously don't want people to see where your sympathies really lie. Lie....how appropo for the present administration, eh? Just don't masquerade under a 'moderate's mantle'. You support the present administration regardless of its actions. Rape, lie, murder...it's okay as long as the party that liberals like you love are doing it, no?

-- haha (haha@haha.com), January 28, 2000.

Have heard from several sources, that Clinton and Mrs. were actually republicans, before running for the governors job. Heard that he switched parties, to get on the ticket, it worked and he stayed there. Has anyone else heard this, or seen verifiable proof? Just thought it was interesting.

-- suzy (suzy@nowhere.com), January 28, 2000.

If all were equal, a pre-election crash would cost Gore the presidency. But why waste time discussing this when TPTB have already determined Bsh is next; they just have to do the dog-and- pony show so joe sixpack thinks this was brought by his vote.

-- Hokie (Hokie_@hotmail.com), January 28, 2000.

If every lie I told about you became someone else's truth, this would be China, not America. YOU are the one perverting the morals of this country. YOUR lies have nearly destroyed us. The pres was not ever indicted for rape or murder, let alone convicted. Except in your own mind.

BTW, judging from the stats, most Americans kind of think its cool to shade the truth in any way possible to protect a young lady, the children of this country, and the Presidency from what you might consider a sin. On the other hand, 40% of married American men and a similar percentage of American wives have been 'unfaithful' in your terms. BJ's are not illegal, they are just fun. Get over it.

Sincerely,

-- Uhhmmm... (JFCP81A@aol.com), January 28, 2000.

Hey there -Hawk- So you have shown your true colors and boy o boy are they pink. How could you support Al Gore. He is so transparent and goofy. Did you ever see the Constable in the movie Young Doctor Frankenstein? He had a wooden arm and your boytoy Gore has two arms and two legs just like him. Please do not do this! For the good of the country and your good name. For that liberal that called me a moron, I just would like to say that I would wear that badge proudly compared to a badge with liberal wrote across it

-- Liberal Hater (liberty@bell.com), January 28, 2000.

Sorry Hokie, you're wrong. What comes around goes around. The little game the Republicans started of playing politics by personal destruction is going to come back to haunt them. Everyone knows that Bush is an alcoholic, coke-snorting, womanizing sleazebag, and he is now going to have to face the music just like Clinton did.

The whole idea that Clinton is guilty of lying under oath is preposterous, because the evidence that the Republicans used to start the whole thing in the first place was the illegally obtained phone calls taped by Linda Tripp. If this kind of frame job had been attempted against an average John Q. Public citizen the courts would have been obligated to dismiss the entire thing, but since it was the president, once the media got a hold of it the right-wingers insisted that it be illegally continued, even though they had no right. Oral gratification is not the same as sexual intercourse, and almost anyone would deny that they had sex, especially since it was none of our business in the first place.

LH,

What a huge brain you must have. Why not boil it down in the future to a one-liner? You know: subject, verb, object. I am sure you are capable of stringing these together to make a point, somehow. Know what a categorical syllogism is? If you get real brave, try that 'If A then B' type thingy. After several years of this, go on to inductive reasoning. Eventually, you will be able to play in the league of most of the old-timers on this forum - truth tellers and truth benders alike.

Sincerely,

Too bad none of the candidates would fill my tall order:

1) Bring US troops home from Europe and withdraw from NATO in exchange for a looser ABM treaty with the Russians and a missle defence system for the US (if it could be shown to work). By the way, this will save us lots and lots of money.

2) Abolish the income tax, the capital gains tax, the inheritance tax, the gas tax, and the luxury tax. Instead, raise federal revenue by (1) tariffs on nations that are unfair to us economically and (2) a national sales tax. End the IRSs reign of terror. Make certain the the rich no longer slide through loopholes and that the criminal underground have to pay alongside the regular folks. This will generate revenue in such a way that the economy will grow at a far greater rate than today. A huge source of friction in the economy would vanish overnight if the IRS could get the axe.

3) Abolish all abortions beyond the 10th week of pregnancy (when a heartbeat begins in the fetus) except in cases where the life or health of the mother is at stake. At the same time, provide for easier access to adoption and pre- and peri-natal care for the poor.

4) End the War on Drugs. By decriminalizing drugs, the price would go down such that the crime lords would have to go out of business. Crime by petty addicts would also go down because the dope would be cheaper and they wouldn't have to steal or kill for it. The resources for previously fighting the war on drugs would then go directly toward the rehabilitation of addicts through medicine and therapy. Research shows that drug addiction is a disease where the brains chemistry becomes imbalanced, plain and simple. By showing addicts compassion and not throwing them all in jail, they are less likely to become more- serious and hardened criminals who learn refine their evil-doing in places like corrupt state penitentiaries. Furthermore, by ending the war on drugs, we end the hugely unfair practices that the government is using to turn this country into a police state...like property seizures without conviction, searches without warrant, etc.

5) End the Death Penalty. Because the Constitution prohibits "cruel and unusual punishment," the death penalty should be outlawed. It does not deter crime; it is not applied fairly; and it gives massive powers to the State a role which should only belong to God.

6) Reinforce the Constitution by following its principles of limited federal power. Do not commit troops to combat unless they are forced to defend themselves in a surprise attack or if a declaration of war is issued by Congress. Eliminate the bureaucracies which intrude on the soveignty of the 50 states. Maintain neutrality in all foreign conflicts unless absolutely all means to avoid the war have been exhausted and our survial as a nation is threatened.

7) For the purposes of national defence against enemies (human, pathogen, and environmental), massively increase funding for aggressive research designed to reap technological breakthroughs in molecular biology, medicine, computers, materials science, space travel, and energy production, and do so in such a way that there is cooperative feedback (not secrecy) between the academic and corporate worlds. This will ensure that any enemy would be absolutely overwhelmed by only a minimal amount of force.

8) Immigration should continue but perhaps not quite as rapidly, being more selective than now for people who can bring to this country special skills and talents, thus ensuring an intellectual and cultural edge for our people for the next generations.

9) The right to bear arms. People should feel free to own any weapon they darn well please for protection, hunting, or sport. However, this right should not belong to minors (who would need a liscence to hold one) or felons (who should lose all rights to keep a gun for the remainder of their lives).

10) Loosen or eliminate the control of the Federal Reserve on America's economy. It has failed to promote our liberties and instead has cultivated a massive private and public debt, to which we are all held hostage.

11) Because the economy has suffered some trauma due to the loss of our industrial backbone, it is necessary to mitigate these effects by giving people the chance to retool their skills and start new careers away from the public dole. Do this by vastly reducing the red tape in getting low-interest loans for all things educational--college, post- college, trade school, etc. If everyone could get one who asked for one, we'd have an easier time of things in this so-called "new economy."

12) Redefine the 20th century rules about education by allowing new kinds to fluorish, such as internet- and home-school programs which make use of the new, high-speed internet.

13) Gradually phase out social security by allowing people the option of saving for it in their own way--as long as they promise they won't spend it until retirement.

14) Affirmative action. Although affirmative action had a definite positive impact in the 1960s, at present it is getting mired in legalism and EO stipulations. Certainly anyone who has been treated unfairly on account of race, color, or gender should have the right to sue in a court of law. However, requirements to hire people in quotas is taking things a little too far--especially since the TRUE dividing issue in America today is economic NOT racial.

15) Launch a foreign policy initiative designed to foster warmer relations between Latin America (including Cuba) to patch over the old disputes where they were pawns of Gilded Age corporations and later pawns of the Cold War. A free trade zone should be a long-term goal but only after their labor and environmental laws are up to par with ours.

16) etc. etc.

Again, I know of NO ONE who even comes close to meeting all these issues, although the libertarians are certainly closest followed by the Alan Keyes or the Reform Party.

-- green orb (greenorb@fakemail.com), January 29, 2000.

tress,

If your still here, I for one have switch parties solely because of Keyes. I keep hearing people say he can't win, but I haven't heard a valid reason why he can't. The only thing I know is that I have heard quite a few state that they would love to see him win, but aren't going to vote for him because he can't win. Evidently, these same people don't have the backbone to be true to their country and themselves. If they are going to vote for someone simply because "they" can we, then they have betrayed both this country and themselves. But, they will have no one to blame but themselves.
