Long Island Doe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

This female Whitetail was hit by a car at Heckscher State Park on Long Island, NY a few years ago. She survived, obviously, but doesn't walk very well and can not run. She has become quite unafraid of humans and let me get very close for this photograph. taken with a Canon EOS Elan IIE and Sigma 400mm APO on Fujichrome Provia.

Not a bad shot, but here seeing her shoulders would have helped. It appears almost as if it is her head and neck alonng side another deer's back/backside. Otherwise a nice portrait.

What a wonderful shot. I only wish more deer would pose long enough to capture what you have, though not at the expense of injury, natch. The color is so realistic. Obviously an older Whitetail. Nice work.
