Future Y2k Dates for Doomers

(All dates are in the format d-mm-yyyy)

29-02-2000

There are systems and applications that do not recognize the year 2000 as a leap year. This will cause all dates following February 29, 2000 to be offset incorrectly by one day. The rules for leap years are as follows. A year is a leap year if it is divisible by four, but if it is divisible by 100 it is not a leap year, but if it is divisible by 400 it is a leap year. Therefore, the Year 2000 is a special case leap year that occurs once every 400 years.

1-10-2000

First 9-character date using a two digit month field.

10-10-2000 >/b>

First 10-character date.

They omitted my favorite: 32-01-2000.

So today could be 57-12-1999?

In 43 days we would rollover to 00-12-1999 and kaboom?

March 9, 2000??? The Ides of March.

Y2K Observer, This is from a programming Doomer . . . I was surprised to hear all the kerfluffall about 2/29/00. I alwyas thought the rule was real simple - if the year is divisible by 4 (Olympic years before THEY wrecked yet another tradition for profit!), it was a leap year. Simple as that. I really gotta think that anyone who took the time to find out that 1900 (& 1800 & 1700 but not 1600) wasn't a leap year probably understood the whole 9 yds. Further, if he/she didn't look into it at all they would've lucked out (just like I did) and thought that, duh, 2000 is a leap year.

Secondly, I think that dates like 1/10/00 & 10/10/00 will have the same sorta noticablt impact as 4/9/99 & 9/9/99 (notta). That's not to say that I don't think that refineries/pipelines/aeroplanes/month-end-accounting/JIT snags won't wreak absolute havoc over this globe over the next six-months. Not at all! I'm convinced they will and am holding onto our preps for until least July '00 before giving anything to the well-deserving local food bank.
