"The Mellow Mushroom, an Atlanta pizza parlor, fired up its generator and sold about 300 pizzas in five hours Sunday night, then switched the power source to the TV so patrons could watch the end of the NFL game.

"We might as well be here, because we're still without power at home,'' said Linda Livingston, who owns the Mellow Mushroom with her husband. "It's not too bad at home, though, with all the stuff I had left over in case of Y2K that everyone scoffed at me for.''

Good thinking putting the generator at the pizza parlor, don't you think :) Probably just about paid for itself with those 300 pizzas...

Being prepared for the unexpected, but easily anticipated, difficulties of life, has been a no-brainer for most humans for most of human history.

Of course, ones ability to do this, in the olden times was predicated upon ones wealth and the vagaries of nature (ref: Irish potato famine)

21st century Americans have become addicted to convenience and a sense of security. It only take a little weather acting up to put the lie to that. But, if a person takes the time to get it done, everyone in the USA could provide preps for themselves. It is all a matter of priority.

Some forum I read today had a poster from Georgia who related sharing their preps with several non-prepper neighbors. And some of those non- preppers had the little bulb light up!

Which is a good thing.
