Luckily, in view of the developing oil shortage, that isn't necessary; they're already there.

Gee Stevie, is that developing oil shortage going to be anything like the Y2K rollover you had so much to say about? The increase in price in iol is international politics, the problems with the refineries and pipelines is deteriation due to old age and poor maintenance. The oil situation is controlled by a lot of factors that take some intellegence to understand. You should listen to your regulars that are telling you the real reasons behind it.

Cherri

Please read my response to your statements on thread

Pipeline failures are only part of the picture. Age is not a criteria for pipeline replacement. The number of failures at refineries is a completely different thing and may very well be related to "Fred" with issues. Please read the URLs provided. I would be happy to answer questions in regards to pipeline failures.

The threads are becoming more and more OT. At some point the character of the forum will be gone. Probably soon. I was thinking of sticking it out until February perhaps.

Maybe the forum should be re-named.

This is not a dying format. It's growing! The title Timebomb 2000 is quite appropriate. The Timebomb never was strictly related to the Y2K computer bug, but to the POSSIBILITY OF SOCIETY-WIDE BREAKDOWN, a possibility which is still possible!!!

Cherri-- Don't I remember reading some news byte just around the second week after the rollover stating Iraq's exports of crude oil were ONE-THIRD their normal output? Doesn't that sound a tad coincidental considering they took a fix on failure stance? OR have you heard that they've had no problems?
