Chicago & St. Louis

greenspun.com : LUSENET : It's All About Joe 90: The Discussion Board : One Thread

Just got back from my roadtrip. I'm so sad it's all over. :( But I had such a wonderful time! As Amanda said, the Chicago show was wonderful. We (Kris and I)got to the venue around 1:30. There were only a couple of people in line. It was soooo cold, only about 16 degrees. Brrr! But it's worth it of course! lol. Around 3:30, we saw Joe 90's van drive by so we ran to greet them. Chris came out first. He has his hair dyed differently now. It's more white and there is a black patch in the front. We also talked to Gary. He said they would be playing a new song, called "When You Arrive." Kris reminded him to do the "1,2,3" thing during "Ferris Wheel." We also saw CC arrive, but I'll just stick to Joe 90 content. :) The doors opened at 5:30. Joe 90 were still sound-checking. We heard them play "Nov. Bombs" and "Flatline Static." We got inside and got front row center (btw. Adam and Immy). Joe 90 came on at 7:30. I was going to try and tape the show, but i got busted. I felt so stupid! I was using my flashlight, so I could see the buttons and adjust the sound level, but one of the guards saw me. :( They took the recorder and kept it until the end of the show. So that kinda put a damper on things for me. But Joe 90 put on an excellent show. I don't remember the order either, but they played Ferris Wheel (but no "1,2,3" :( )/Flatline Static/Nov. Bombs/ Blurred/ Truth/ When You Arrive (with Ben Mize on tamborine)/Drive (with Dan Vickery)/ Road. I really really love the new song! After the show, we went down to the merchandise booth to talk to the guys. They signed my "Everybody" cd. All of them asked where I got it. Craig asked me what my favorite song was, but I didn't know what to say since I just got it and haven't listened to it much yet. Ooops. We also asked Craig about the Bip name in the God's Child cd and he went on about the astronaut. lol. Adam told us about his new girlfriend. awww. The next day in St. Louis, we got to the venue about 2:30. We never saw Joe 90 arrive. We were told later that they're van broke down on the way from Chicago, and they had to rent another, so I guess that's why we didn't see them. We were talking to Matt before the show and told us the doors didn't open until 7, but when we went back to the line at around 6:10, to our horror we saw that they had begun letting people in! Luckily, we managed to somehow sneak up and get front row again. This time more to the right, btw the two Daves. The stage set-up was so much better than in Chicago. There was no barrier and we could put our arms on the stage. I got to see the whole band this time, even little Adam. I got some pretty good pictures of them. I'll try to scan them soon. I didn't bring my recorder though, b/c I was too scared from what happened in chicago, but I probably could have gotten it in and taped the show with no problems. :( Oh well. Joe 90 came on at 7:30 again. Out of the four times I've seen them, I think this was the best. They played about the same setlist as the night before, except after the Road cover, they played another song I have never heard before. I don't know the name, but after the show, Gary said it a song from their original demos. But the coolest thing, was that they did the "1,2,3" at the beginning of Ferris Wheel and during the chorus as Kris and Kathy had requested! Yay! Hope they do it again and the rest of your shows, Kathy! The CC set was also amazing, one of the best shows I've ever seen. And then, at the end of the show, Immy came over and gave Kris backstage passes!!! AHH! We didn't get to talk to Joe 90 much back there though, but both bands were back there and we talked to Matt, Immy, and Charlie for a long time. Kris asked Gary what happened to the original drummer from God's Child and he said they gave him an offer he couldn't refuse to stay in NYC when they moved to L.A. lol. I overheard Adam (Duritz) saying how he had a few suggestions for Joe90 on the new song for the chorus, which i thought was interesting. I guess he does play an integral part. They were also discussing how they wanted to use the song for a movie. Oh, and I got to meet Dan, the lead singer of Jars of Clay (another of my fave bands). Wow! What a night. A great way to end my CC shows. Hope Joe90 comes back to Chicago soon. Sorry for the incredibly long and rambling review! ~Kristin :)

It seems I've become the multiple post queen.. oh well. Great review Kristin #2! I was wondering what song that was that they covered in Chicago, I actually forgot about it until you mentioned it. We should bug the guys to come back to Chicago =)

thanks for the review, kristin!!

i really wish i'd been there to hear them do the 1-2-3 thing in ferris wheel, kris and i kept on begging them to do that! according to her though, they said they'll do it at every show we're at... so they'd better :)

i think you should include kris' informing immergluck of his BO in your review though. that is the funniest thing i've ever heard... i love kris! she needs to post here!!

i cannot wait to see JOE 90 with her in 1 week and hear them do the 1- 2-3 thing!!! there, this post had multiple pieces of joe 90 content.

kristin#2 - thank you for such a wonderful, long review! i love reading about people's concert experiences, especially when they give lots of details. i'm sorry you didn't get to tape the shows though. :(

why does it keep cutting off the ends of my posts? why? why?!

what that should have said is "i love concerts. have i ever mentioned that?"

i was just re-reading my post, and what can i say, i was tired when i wrote it. you probably figured this out, but it was little Adam who we first met outside in Chicago. So don't worry, it wasn't Chris who dyed his hair white. lol. Yeah, Kris should definitely post here!! I think we need lots more Kristin's, Chris', and Kris'! :) The B.O. thing was hilarious. Tom whatchamacallit (the tour manager guy) gave Kris Immy's stinky shirt. She took a whiff and told him he had B.O. and that we could smell it from the stage. hehe. Immy has such an evil laugh. Matt was imitating it and then Adam joined in when he walked by. That was one of the scariest thing's I've ever heard! lol. Wish I knew the name of the song. Could have been that "Sleeping Pill" one, but I'm not sure. I e-mailed Gary about it, cuz I thought that was a good excuse to. Hopefully he'll respond. If not I bet they'll play it at some future shows. I'm jealous that you guys get to see them play alone. That will be great! ~Kristin#2 :)

i was picturing chris with his hair dyed white and getting a little worried. i'm relieved it's adam. that make so much more sense.

and aimee, i did notice that it isn't cutting off anyone else posts. i feel so special. i can't figure out if it's trying to tell me to shut up, or if it wants to force me to multipost.

oh, and i don't want to be the "other kristin." it just makes me think of "pork, the other white meat" i don't want that kind of association. i think i need a nickname.

i know how erin gets notification of everyone's posts now

How does erin get all the e-mails? Just curious =) My mom is still very upset about the concert.. she says the only thing that made it worth while was that we got to meet Joe 90 and they were so sweet. Just thought I'd share. My sister likes Truth, I taught her well =) Bye bye, -AJ

Nevermind, I figured it out =)

kristin you crack me up. although the other white meat thing reminds me of bjork. i can't remember who, but someone started calling bjork the other white meat. dont ask me its 5 and i just woke up and im tired because little kids have been waking me up every 5 minutes for the last 6 hours - im so rock and roll. in a mr. mom kinda way. hm.

well! now that kristin has figured out how this board is my little baby. im no longer special! (dramatic sigh)
