OT: What's the Prez up to now?

WASHINGTON (Reuters)

President Clinton praised a UN draft accord banning the use of child soldies and said on Friday he would push for its quick approval by the U.S. Senate.

Calling the newly approved draft "an important advance for human rights," Clinton said in a statement, "I am committed to a speedy process or review and signature and to working with the Senate on this historic achievement to protect the world's children."

Negotiators from 70 countries reached the draft agreement in Geneva on Friday. I would raise the age for military conscription and participation in combat to 18 from 15.

But government armies may recruit volunteers aged 16 who have parental consent and proof of their age. This was a compromise aimed at Britain and the United States, which take volunteers from 17 and 16 respectively.

Clinton, who was traveling in California on Friday, said he was "very pleased with the final result."

"By addressing forced recruitment and the conduct of armed rebel groups, this agreement strikes at the heart of the problem of child soldiers," Clinton said.

He noted, however, that the accord "also deals in a realistic and reasonable way with the issue of minimum ages for conscription, voluntary recruitment and participation in hostilities by national armed forces...it fully protects the military recruitment and readiness requirements of the United States."

Do NOT TRUST Klinton on any military issue - He is a draft dodger - As such, he will never be the commander-in-chief -

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.net), January 22, 2000.

Uh Richard, Clinton has been the Commander In Chief for the last seven years.

Who is Klinton?

To Butt Nuggett: You wear your rank - You EARN your respect - That is who Klinton Is -

So what was in the REST of the doc he signed? Esp. re: UN, we gotta read that small print.

-- Hokie (Hokie_@hotmail.com), January 23, 2000.

Yeah, what's the deal with the "K" in Klinton? Is that supposed to signify something like "Klingon" or is it just a sign of disrespect?

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), January 23, 2000.

Claurann,

Somehow (maybe because of a lot of apparently illiterate errors) I get the impression that this isn't exactly the actual report. I've never seen Reuters make that many errors. Do you have a link?

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), January 23, 2000.

Hokie: After reading this forum over the passing weeks, I have come to regard your opinion as slightly above the rest - Why? you might ask - Because, you, like me, say things that might be, shall we say, truthful, yet unpalatable - However, after reading your recent post, I wish you could be more succinct - If such is this case, then,I will be able to respond to you and the others in a suitable manner - Afterall, I am not here to sling...

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.net), January 23, 2000.

Hawk: What we discuss right now is beyond correct spelling - I am able to spell Klinton correctly, if I need to - I am making a point

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.net), January 23, 2000.

Does any one respect clinton or believe a word he has to say?

Does any one respect clinton or believe a word he has to say?Dose any one have a reason to?

Dear Forum:

I have no RESPECT for Clinton (See Hawk, I can spell the criminal's name correctly if asked).

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.net), January 23, 2000.

Robert,

I wasn't trying to pick a fight or anything, I was just honestly wondering if I was missing something, like it was supposed to be symbolic of Hitler or some of the other things that people think Clinton is (maybe a Klingon? Lol!). As I suspected, I guess it is really just a way of showing disrespect, like "Ronnie Raygun" or something, eh?

Citizen, let's put it this way. I am not particularly fond of our current governmental system, and politicians seem to represent perhaps the worst qualities of this. But I do have more respect for Clinton than I do for you, if that might help you put things in a better perspective. :-)

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), January 23, 2000.

Spelling Klinton with the K has been my way of protesting the nazi- like police state tactics of the US federal government. I've been doing it for years. Ever since Waco.

I decided not to re-enlist because that draft dodger was elected. I'm glad of it too. I'd never willingly work for the philanderer-in-chief.

Respect is earned. In my opinion, Klinton has earned none. But I do respect the OFFICE of the President. I have no use for a traitor. I realize others may not think that's what he is but that's their opinion. This is mine.

Dear Hawk: I absolutely resent your comparison of me to Hitler et.al., - How dare you or anyone else even bring my name up in the same paragraph with Adolph Hitler - Let it be known right now that I ask for facts, not for soap operatic theater or regressed Freudian ego

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.net), January 23, 2000.

Getting back to the original news report, as I suspected, I was correct, it seems that Claurann typed it herself, and perhaps did a bit of editing in the process.

The actual article does not say "I would raise the age for military.." but rather "It would raise the age for military..", apparently another attempt to make it look like Clinton was totally responsible, when in fact 70 countries reached this agreement (the dead giveaway was the word "soldies" ??).

Then we have Robert, immediately jumping to the conclusion that this is some kind of diabolical scheme to start a communist regime or something. Tell me, what is so corrupt about not wanting young children to be allowed to participate in combat? I suppose you think it would be a good idea to start training children for combat when they reach the age of 4, and draft dodgers should be executed because they don't thing war is a good thing? Hmmmm... who sounds like the communist around here?

Dear Forum: This is getting out of hand - Restraint is needed - 1st-I commented on the facts related to us regarding oil prices - I thanked the person for an accurate appraisal, or so we think, of the oil problems that we may encounter shortly - 2nd-I get into a dialogue regarding Bill Clinton (see, I can spell his traitorous name correctly). Then, because I am inquistive, my name is listed with Adolph Hitler in the same paragraph, which, of course, I resent. Then, I get grief regarding Clinton and his gang - Whom I do not respect, which answers someone else's question - I am interested in the OIL - I am not interested in everybody's interpretation of my reality, no matter how unforgiving it may be -

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.net), January 23, 2000.

Hawk: Remember your History - Sparta defeated Athens

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.netg), January 23, 2000.

Lol Robert!

"I am not interested in everybody's interpretation of my reality, no matter how unforgiving it may be -"

Then what the hell are you doing posting on a forum? Do you think I'm supposed to accept all the lies spewing out of your traitorous mouth? Bwaaahhaahaha - that's a laugh!

If you knew how to read you would have known that I was referring to the way you right-wing nazi pigs keep labeling Clinton as a Hitler, not you. But since it bothers you to have your name in the same paragraph, try this...

Robert Moss, Aldoph Hitler, Robert Moss, Aldoph Hitler, Robert Moss, Aldoph Hitler, Robert Moss, Aldoph Hitler, Robert Moss, Aldoph Hitler, Robert Moss, Aldoph Hitler, Robert Moss, Aldoph Hitler... bwaaahahahah!!!

Go back to Berlin you troll!

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), January 23, 2000.

Hawk: Relax - If anybody who lived through war, wanted their children, no matter how old they may be, to participate in a war, will be , i am afraid, a perfect subject for an evaluation - I do not want my children to participate in war - Communism, Socialism, Kapitalism or Comedyism, it does not matter - I do not want my boys doing what I did

-- Robert Moss (bmoss3@prodigy.net), January 23, 2000.

Mr. Moss, Thank you for your military service. I'm sure you didn't know then that it could possibly be in vain as we were being sold down the river long before most of us were even born. Since we associate communism with russia, the k in klinton and amerika revert to the russian language.

The other infantile person debating you above is either asleep at the wheel or a disinformation agent, one of many who watches and replies to message boards. The generality of their agenda is either to make you angry or convince you that you're a nutcase. They are all over the net. You have held your dignity with honor, Mr. Moss.

Now, now. There's nothing wrong with Hawk. He simply pulls his political views out of his jockey shorts each morning. Dumb as a fence post......but, he's OUR fence post and we tolerate him.

As for KKKKKKKKlinton, that piece of scum needs to be watched. From bell towers and library roofs.

So, now, tell me again what is wrong with our joining 70 other countries in an effort to ban youngsters 18 of less from fighting in a war? Hhmmmm..?

I believe you folks must listen to too much daytime talk radio. The pres has some good ideas and some bad ideas. Just like every other past pres and every other human (not of devine descent). Support the ideas you admire, and piss on the others. But PLEASE do not decide everything the pres does is dog-doo-doo. Otherwise you brand yourself as reactionary swine.

Sincerely,

Dear Forum:

There is nothing wrong with joining the rest of the civilized world in banning those children under the age of eighteen from entering a war zone as combat soldiers - Indeed, I applaud the efforts of those who worked diligently to get the message across to the rest of the world - However, my biggest complaint is that the Clinton family follows for political gain - Remember, the Clinton family talked to the entire world about family values - Then Willy gets caught with his pants down - Poor Chelsea - I just DO NOT TRUST Clintonian Democracy - Does anyone know the current price of oil per barrel?
