Y2K People Finding People - http://www.webpal.org/list.htm

So much is happening. Y2K stories left and right. We are talking about official government announcements now. They too are saying a lot has happened and that we still have to watch, but they still put the happy face on EVERYTHING. I hope they are right.

Finally getting the story on some other countries refineries. Taiwan is TRYING to restart its biggie. They shut it down for Y2K. You can read it for yourself---->

Here is another Ukraine source, to follow on that one I gave you yesterday This link works. Turns out the other one needed a subscription. They are quite different, but I think both quite reliable, and on the same subject.

Another little piece of news this morning--------->

NEW YORK TIMES: "In Face of Higher Fuel Costs, Airlines Institute $20 Surcharge" - 'For the first time since the Persian Gulf War oil crisis nearly a decade ago, U.S. airline passengers will soon pay for the rising cost of fuel. Five major domestic airlines have quietly decided this week to add $20 to the price of a roundtrip ticket to offset the impact of rising jet-fuel prices. The surcharge, set to take effect next month, is meant to diminish one of the biggest expenses in the airline industry.' '...with oil prices at the highest level in nine years, it's likely that the surcharge will not go away in the foreseeable future....' ================== Okay, so there we have the pattern (But in a moment, I am going to throw you a RINGER).

Yep, we are hearing that Saudi Arabia is having trouble meeting it quotas leave alone taking up any slack. (But then it is said that it is just an OPEC ploy). The UN says that Iraq has serious problems and needs hundreds of millons of repairs for its refineries. (But a another source today says they were just delayed by one pipeline problem and are going again).

Still, Venezuela is DOWN. Taiwan is DOWN. That UKRAINE info is about as official as you can get. Australia AV gas is kaput.

I now am getting the picture that when some of the refineries are saying (at this moment of rampant demand) that they are shutting down for scheduled repairs, it simply means that it didn't blow up, but they are having to shut it down, before it does.

Then comes THIS news ringer----------->

MOSCOW TIMES: "Frigid Weather in U.S. Puts Heat on Russian Oil Sales" - 'Colder winter weather in the United States has attracted rare shipments of Russian heating oil across the Atlantic, European oil traders said. Over six cargoes of heating oil totaling 360,000 metric tons were shipped from the Baltic port of Ventspils in the past week as temperatures across the Atlantic dropped below normal.

Russia is shipping oil to the U.S.! And here I was worrying about Russia! Okay, Alice, back through the looking glass! I guess they have no responsibility for worrying about the Ukraine. I sure as heck don't know what is going on.

Here is another viewpoint:-------->

Analysts cautioned that this week's unusually rapid rise in heating oil prices could lead to a similar decline when temperatures moderate in the Northeast. ``Prices will go down,'' said Mordechai Abir, senior strategist at Schroder & Co. in New York. ``There will be an instantaneous reaction when the weather in the Northeast changes. The weather in New York always affects the market because the trading is here,'' he said.

================= Well, that is another viewpoint. Sure isn't mine. But it may be that of the 732 people that have left this list now. Have had 2,576 readers and am now down to 1844.

Sorry about that! Doomers do what doomers do!
