O'Hare Airport Electrical Power Outage

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I heard on WNIJ public radio of northern IL this morning that O'Hare International Airport was without electrical power since 2:30 am today, and utility crews were working on the problem. They suspect an electrical cable defect at this time. Does anyone have a more recent update ?

Early morning O'Hare power outage O'Hare airport officials are scrambling to get everything back on- line this morning after downed wires caused the power to go out early this morning. The lights went out in Terminal 1 at 2:40 a.m. and were back on by 4:15 a.m.

No major problems occurred at the airport during the outage, but some early travelers arrived to see a dark terminal.

Computers at ticket counters and on the arrival/departure monitors needed to be rebooted as well.

ComEd says the outage was caused by some downed wires in Bensenville and Elk Grove Village. JHA 01/21/00 6:30 a.m.
