Trouble in Tampa, Florida? Water problems may curtail service.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just heard on the evening news, two problems, causes unclear. Water main rupture causes flooding. Separate incident, problem at water treatment plant (valve?) in Hillsborough County, north of Tampa, could cause many residents in that area to be left without water. Wonder if they prepped for y2k...

Link? I haven't even seen it in the paper or on the net yet. It was on the evening television news (WFLA-TV, Channel 8, local NBC channel, Tampa.)

In any event, follow-up report at 6 pm indicates both problems were entirely separate, both involved water main breaks, causes unknown. One break in Tampa, one north of Tampa/ Hunters Green area... Developing story, not a lot of details. Accuracy always in question with breaking news. The one north of Tampa may necessitate stopping water service to some 10,000 residents. This is probably minor, probably not y2k-related, but there certainly have been a lot of breaks/ruptures around the country lately.

It will probably be in the Provda West (St. Pete Times) or Tampa Trib tomorrow.

Work Crews just completed repairs on a major Cleveland waterline today. The 36" Pipe broke six days ago flooding Downtown Cleveland. Those of you who want a clearer understand of the significance of the Tampa report may want to go read what's on this thread. And yes, I mean follow all of the links..there's a bunch of useful information:

Actually, Pravda West is a great name for the St Pete Times. It's common knowledge here in Tampa Bay (and verifiable) that most of the editors in chief and CEO's over the years have been communists.

Sheri, Right on. The SP Times (Pravda West) is a gun grabbing socialist rag.
