******************NOTICE TO ALL "DOOMERS"********************

Just to keep you up on current events......Y2K has come and there is no crisis. Yes, thats right folks, there is no crisis, there was no crisis, and there will be no crisis. You were wrong. Admit that.

Some more historical facts you doomers are obviously ignorant of:

Machines failed before the year 2000. (....really???) Electrical and communications networks failed before the year 2000. (....really???) Public works and transportation systems failed before the year 2000. (....really???)

The only time when there were no mechanical failures was when there were no machines. The only time when there were no computer failures was when there were no computers.

The fact that you people are still hanging around this forum blathering about every little problem and how it will eventually cause the worlds collapse is not only stupid; it is a little disturbing. You would think that everyone would be thankful that nothing happened.

What you are doing is tantamount to wishing death to a wealthy relative, just so you can collect inheritance money.

That is immoral and reprehensible.

It is because you people were never just predicting something bad would happen. You were hoping something bad would happen and you were wishing something bad would happen.

Or maybe it is deeper than that. Maybe it is because you never really had much before all this, and thinking of yourselves as a chosen few that would survive the "great collapse" made you feel special for a little while. And you don't want to let that special feeling go. Maybe you all feel a little embarrassed because you've made complete fools of yourselves to everyone around you and you feel that by pointing out some possible Y2K problem you may salvage a little self-respect. Pathetic, isn't it?

In that, you have my sympathy.

But playtime is over. You will have to do better than you have if you wish to feel better about yourselves. You see most of us who live in the real world use wisdom and common sense to govern our lives. Good judgement is developed over time. You must develop it if you wish not to fall prey to the charlatans of this world. North, Yourdon, and the rest of that ilk are all became rich and are having a good laugh at your expense. You see; they knew they were to profit no matter the outcome of Y2K. I cannot blame them; they merely harvested the abundance of stupidity that is in the world.

Mind you, it is not too late to let something good come from all this. You may salvage some of your dignity and give your excess provisions to your local homeless shelter or food bank, where it can be put to good use. It will do your souls much good to be a givers instead of hoarders.

Always remember that true salvation is not in how much you save up, but how much you give away.

Updated 1:57 PM ET January 5, 2000

By Natalie James

TORONTO (Reuters) - One of the world's most quoted Y2K computer bug prophets, Peter de Jager, says all is not over despite the almost total absence of Y2K glitches as the start of the year 2000 came and went.

"Have you received your paycheck? Have you received your Visa bill? Have you received your electrical bill?" said de Jager, the Canadian technology expert widely credited with helping to sound the alarm to the world on the so-called Y2K problem.

"None of these business processes have occurred yet. So, for anyone to suggest we're through Y2K is making the assumption that none of these business processes are going to be affected. That's an extremely naive assumption," de Jager told Reuters in an interview Tuesday.

=====

"When we come through mid-Febuary we can all start putting (the Y2K problem) behind us and leave the rest of the clean-up to the computer people," he predicted.

Hey Jack, Chuckie or whoever you are at the moment, there's a sewer over yonder called y2k debunked why don't you hike on over there and pump it out since that's your specialty. Do something good for humanity yourself!

Hi Chuck,

Seems to me that you are the idiot, "...still hanging around this forum blathering..."

Ed Yourdon and Gary North did not make one cent off of most of the "doomers" out there.

This is not about "right" and "wrong." Those of us who prepared for for Y2K and other emergencies did the prudent thing. Please ask the American Red Cross, FEMA, etc. for their advise if you are unclear in this matter.

If Y2K stays a BITR, I, for one, am very please about this outcome. Please quit spreading "stuff" on this forum. Are you LL or Y2K Pro by a different name??

-- No Polly (nopolly@hotmail.com), January 20, 2000.

The fact that you people are still hanging around this forum blathering about every little problem and how it will eventually cause the worlds collapse is not only stupid; it is a little disturbing. You would think that everyone would be thankful that nothing happened.

I for one am *very* thankful that nothing especially noteworthy has happened yet. You, on the other hand, are not thankful because you claim to have known for a fact ahead of time that Y2k would be nothing.

Some of us like to stay informed on current events and read the variety of commentary found on this forum.

The U.S. government wasn't sure how Y2k would turn out. But you did?

Yeah those CIA, Senate and IEEE spokepersons must have been in on the Y2K Hoax also, huh Chuck? And if Y2K was over, it should have been called the "First Part of January 2000 Problem", right?

And for your information, I have no desire to see the world enter a recession, depression or worse. But when the writing is on the wall, it's a little stupid to ignore it, wouldn't you say?

People can't let go of this for the same reason the government can't let go of the space program, despite two $125,000,000 Mars Explorers going kaput. In a nutshell, they have a lot invested in it. I'm sure you've made bad investments that you've later tried to justify. No reason to rub people's faces in it. Unless you are some kind of sicko sadistic creep who gets off on that.

-- Amy Leone (leoneamy@aol.com), January 20, 2000.

Amy, I couldn't name one prep item that was a bad investment. Looking outside at all of the snow.... didn't have to stand in the bread/milk/toiletpaper lines with the pollys! I love having all of this stuff on hand. No justifcation is needed.

-- Charli (claypool@belatlantic.net), January 20, 2000.

Charli, I'll second that!

-- preparations for life!!!!! (karlacalif@aol.com), January 20, 2000.

chuck....you *might* be right about y2k, but you are totally wrong about doomers. We (at least I) never *wanted* bad things to happen. I prayed *hard* that they wouldnt'. But I was not going to take the chance with my family. I feel much better about y2k, but I am not going to abandone my preps, just yet. I am using them up slowly. Before the rollover I would almost cry for the kids whose parents weren't taking even the smallest of preparations. You are soooo wrong about Doomers.

-- bob (bb@myhouse.com), January 20, 2000.

Had spaghetti and meatball MRE for dinner. It was tasty and inexpensive. I also think the turkey meal is quite nice. Is there a problem? Oh, I don't meal the new oil crisis, Chuck, I meant is there something you object to in my lifestyle? Don't hold back. Sadly, I made the unfortunate decision to come to coastal South Florida for rollover, so I've had to spend my days walking on the beach and going for trips on the river. Oh well, you can't win them all.

GAWD still ANOTHER chuck....

AS I said to my boss on the third, "I have NEVER prayed so hard in my life that I would be wrong!" when referring to the rollover threat. i'm STILL praying to be wrong on my NON-rollover triggered expectations. Unfortunately, unlike the rollover, THESE expectations look likre the script for the current news.

DARN!
