Got 20 pure gold maple leafs. I never bought gold before and they sure are nice to look at. The guy who sold em to me said"The fun starts when you give all names and start playing with them when it's dark and quiet. I don't think all take it that far, but I can't stop looking at them and feeling the wieght of gold.

God sits on a golden throne, with a golden scepter, with golden streets in heaven. It's in the book of Revelation-last one in the bible. God made gold from the very beginning for us a perfect means of monetary exchange, to help mankind enjoy the division of labor as our various talents contribute to the common good. The departure from the gold standard was wrong...ever read "The Creature fron Jekyll Island" ( great book re the FED, money, etc). Anyway, appreciate it, that is an inborn recognition of something beautiful God made for us. Just remember He is more beautiful and more worthy of admiration, and try to thank Him every night when you lie on that pillow for every good thing you have. Jesus is the way to that golden heaven.

I've noticed a lot of the coins come in plastic slip-covers, some of them sealed. Apparently even minor scratches on the soft metal, like from your fingernails or from the coins rolling against each other, can affect the re-sale value for collectors, so the plastic covers have become standard.

If you're into gold as a senual experience, it's a bit like wearing a condom.

You're right about those scratches - i hate the plastic covers and threw mine away but when I went to trade some gold coins i found out the error of my ways...

I now tend to stick to ones with a slight alloy content like Austrian philharmonics or US Gold Eagles.

There is no mention of any golden throne or golden scepter that God uses in heaven - anywhere in the bible. Also there is absolutely no golden streets or any other kind of streets in heaven mentioned anywhere in the bible.

Would be wise to consult your bible, as even most preachers have no idea what is in them.

Dear Electman- I looked it up. Revelation 8. OK, it's a golden censer,(vessel for burning incense) and a golden altar in front of the throne. I should have checked for accuracy. As far as the streets go, look at Rev 21:21 " the great street of the city was of pure gold...". References to pure gold are all throughout the bible, as the greatest thing of earthly value that God's word is more precious than ( Psm 19:16) and our faith is worth more than ( 1 Peter 1:7). You can have the pyramid with the all seeing eyeball of whoever that idol was folating on top; I'll take gold!

You have a short sighthed view of gold. If gold is such a wishy washy means of money, then why was it the choice for thousands of years?

It is because it is scarce, and it cannot be created(unlike fiat money).

The US$ is only the choice of money now. If you think that the US$ will always be the preferred store of wealth in the world, then you probably think that the sun revolves around the earth, not the other way around.

I respectfully beg to differ on the subject of golden streets mentioned in the Bible. Rev 21:21,talks of streets of gold in the New Jerusalem( "the new Heaven") No golden scepter....your right on that item. However, it does mention a scepter of righteousness in the kingdom.(Heb 1:8)This is alot better scepter than one of gold and one that is so lacking in our society. Best Regards, Dshad
