What would TinTin do?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Intrepid Boy-reporter TinTin and his troop of fast friends have overcome plots to take over the world, to contaminate the world's fuel supply, to manipulate banana governments, etc.

Y2K should be no big deal. Scenarios?

Wait!

This is about Tintin, the Belgium cartoon figure, not Rin Tin Tin, the cross dressing pouch.

Tintin was drawn and written by a fascist supporter starting in the days before WW2. He and his buddies foiled lots of evil do-ers who were involved with financial manipulation, drug smuggling, etc. etc.

The point of this post is there has been a lot of talk about the actions of a small group of powerful characters to:

-- lower the price of gold

-- jack up the stock market

-- keep people in the dark about what will happen next

-- start any number of wars

-- plot over oil

-- etc. etc.

So ... if there was a real life character out to foil the bad evil characters out there ... what would they do? How would they do it?

Lets not be so fast on the delete! Any ideas?

Another hopeful thread careening into the abyss, like a Stuka with an oil fire.

He'd change his name to GoldGold.

well.... lets see.

TinTin was a reporter so maybe he and Fluffy (his ultra-cool dog) would start investigating a suspicious Y2K problem, say at a government agency and in the process, discover something very sinister (i.e., as posted above by Tom the TinTin fan).

Say TinTin is tipped off to a Y2K problem that should looks like it was fixed but really wasnt, and is set to cause mayhem 6 months from Jan/2000. This is all part of a plot by a group of wealthy industrialists to crash the world's economy through a buildup of Y2K problems so that they could then take over. The Jan rollover was just a false alarm to get people to relax and think its all over.

Of course the bad dudes would see TinTin asking questions and try to "encourage" TinTin to look for another, more friendlier story than Y2K. This only would lead to TinTin getting more determined to stop Y2K.

This is a good thread. Anybody else?
