Checking out...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

OK, I'm not Flint or Uncle Deedah, but just thought I'd say my farewell. I'm dropping back into occasional lurk mode. It's getting less and less useful to hang around here. Y2K may bite us yet, but if so, it'll be a bit more subtle than Mad Max. After months of sifting through ambiguous and contradictory information, we can sit back and feast on...many more months of ambiguous and contradictory information.

It's been fascinating, scary, hilarious--the experience and the people. All in all, I don't regret paying attention to what looked like a serious threat. The biggest cost to me has been in time and lost sleep. The payback has been quite an education. Thanks, everyone, and the best to you all.

Hold the door Thinman, I'm right behind you. Time to admit it was a "bump in the road" and get back to life. It has been interesting. Who knows? Maybe the solar flares or asteroids will get us going again. 8-)

Thinman-Y2Kook-Jose Miami- It's been interesting, thanks for your postings, research, and time spent. I was going to suggest to the sysops a week or two ago that they make a new "Farewell" category, but it looks like you may have just given the idea! All the best to all three of you, God Bless, and take care.

Thinman, I've enjoyed your contributions to this forum. Good luck!

JoseMiami, best to you and yours.

Y2Kook, ROFLMAO! Glad you're not leaving just yet...

Thinman, you have said it as best as anyone can. And, let me say, the education that one can get from this forum is quite rewarding.

Good luck, dude.

JoseMiami --

You CAN'T leave!!! You already left last week.

Since January, each time I've "sworn off" the Board comes back with a string of 10-20 explosions, refinery shutdowns, etc. etc. So just watch it NOW!!

See you guys Tuesday. ;^)

ooops. my alter ego is showing....

Squirrle Hunter: (smile -- chuckle) I'm leaving this forum the same way I am quitting coffee -- very slowly cutting back so I don't get a head-ache. In fact, I doubt that I will ever get 100% de-caffienated or that I will ever completely stop lurking in this forum.

I do find myself, however, getting busy again with other goals and activities. It is nice to look into the future again and make serious plans other than starting a compost pile and shooting looters.

I plan to continue learning about short-wave radios and alternative energy. I also plan to continue learning about gardening. Sooner or later we will have a recession or maybe worse -- just not triggered by y2k.

Perhaps this forum will mutate into a prepardeness forum or alternate lifestyle forum. I have appreciated the forums ability to cull through the daily news and provide interesting information, even if our interpretation was wrong.

In the words of Spoc, may you all "live long and prosper."
