Perhaps the most interesting item in this report is the fact that all amonia emitting plants in this complex have been closed for maintenance since December 26. Wonder how many chemical plants around the world are still closed for maintenance?

Excerpt from story in Times of India.

"Ironically, most people say that the foul smell has been surfacing on a regular basis for several years, but is especially severe now. And most complainants are also pointing a finger, though without any proof, at the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF) plant at Chembur, not very far from Dadar. So, what does RCF, no angel in the polluting game in the past, have to say to the allegations? A top-level RCF source, who refused to be identified, categorically denied any hanky-panky on its part. ``I've checked up with our operations people who say that all our ammonia-emitting plants have been shut for maintenance since December 26. It is absolutely unlikely that RCF is the polluting agent; prima facie it is not the RCF. Let the authorities collect the data and we shall see.''
