Does the existence of Patrick disprove Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest?

Does the existence of Patrick disprove Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest? Not really. He was conceived and nutrured by two other individuals, and now is being supported by subsidies being provided by the liberal Puget Sound establishment. If he's able to reproduce, however, I'd start to doubt Darwin...................... or at least DNA test the alleged offspring.

Perhaps his existence is due to a genetic mutation of some sort. Could he be the result of some scientific experiment gone awry?

Solar flares??? PCBs??? Did we stop nuclear testing too late???

I can't beleive that ya'll get away making those remarks about Patrick. When I called him a Socialist months ago my posting was removed and I got a bad boy e-mail from the webmaster bossman.

New Webmaster

Well the webmaster bossman has had to put up with him for all these months too. Patrick would try the patience of a saint. I'm surprised the webmaster hasn't JOINED US in poking fun at old Patrick

Hey, folks... we actually need the Patricks of the world.

He really serves many uses. I like to think of him as something of a baseline on the political scene. I see him as the poster boy of the out of touch, stuck in the 60's liberal attitudes that infest most of the democrat party.

Ahhhh, yes... I remember it well. Why, even *I* used to be like Patrick; a self-righteous, no government program too wrong or too big liberal... Good God, I even voted for Carter!

But then, something happened to me that hasn't yet happened to Patrick.

I grew up.

I take on all comers. Many actually couch their objections based on realistic concerns, and they present them in a calm, understandible manner.

Others, so blinded by their respective biases that there is NO level of proof that will satisfy their fears, find themselves reduced to attempting censorship.

Instead of welcoming discussion and opposing points of view (Everyone remember the way that pro=life democrat governor was denied the opportunity to speak at the last democrat convention?) they seek to silence the opposition; a tenet of the bygone days of tyranny, but a hallmark of the loyal opposition.

No... we need the Patricks of the world. They remind us of how far we've come, while at the same time, showing us how far we have to go.

Westin

Have you emailed Rep. Fisher )fisher-ru@leg.wa.gov) to resign today?

It's rather fun getting under everyone's skin so much that I get an entire thread dedicated to insults even a first grader would find pretty bland. Thank you all so much for acknowledging how much I annoy you.

I don't take to quoting Eyman very much, but in this case:

"I haven't been insulted by anyone I respect."

And zowie, seeing as you figured the end of the year was December 30th, you'll forgive me if I roll on the floor laughing at your survival of the fittest comment.

We all love you Patrick, if only because you're the perfect foil.

-- (zowie@hotmail.com), January 16, 2000.

Gee, I wish that I had an entire thread aimed at ME! How'd you get so lucky, Patrick?

They say that when a person can no longer fight with calmness and logic, they resort to name calling.

It seems that Marsha, Zowie, and others have run out of calmness and logic. Patrick must have hit a few points pretty close to home, eh, Marsha and Zowie?

-- Common Sense (1@hotmail.com), January 17, 2000.

FWIW, poking a bit of fun at someone, doesn't always mean one has run out of calmness or logic. (Ever hear of David Letterman?) Sometimes it just breaks up the tension/monotony. If you had been paying attention, you'd notice we occasionally do this to participants on our own side of the debate. Of course, admitting that would take the impact out of your post, wouldn't it?

Since you have seen fit to put my name first, even though I didn't start the thread, then I must have hit a few points close to home somewhere in this forum! COOL!

By the way, we weren't ignoring you. It just wasn't your turn.

-- Marsha (acorn_nut@hotmail.com), January 17, 2000.

No-

I was ignoring him. Although he makes no more sense then Patrick (and that's very little), he lacks Patrick's self righteous arrogance.

It is unsporting to pick on someone for ignorance if they are potentially educable.
