Is it time for the state to stop subsidizing transit at the expense of highway funding??

Only six states got more in grants in aid to transit than did Washington in 1998 (Last year for which statistics are available). These were California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. None of these states got a higher percentage of funding for these grants in aid from highway user fees than did Washington (92%) http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ohim/hs98/tables/mt1b.pdf http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ohim/hs98/tables/df.pdf

Yes, it's time for the state of Washington to STOP subsidizing transit at the expense of highway funding.

We subsidize it more, the users pay LESS, and still the buses run empty? Screw transit. Build roads!
