A majority of the postings in this forum have nothing to do with y2k

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Looking through the postings, most reported problems have nothing whatsoever to do with the supposed y2k bug. It seems that people who were fooled by the hoax are clutching at anything, no matter how ridiculous, in the vain hope there will be a problem.

Hey, putzo, speak for yourself.

Oh, you did.

Quite right, delete everything that's not a credible failure report. I wouldn't get my early morning chuckle, but it would make a much neater forum. If you delete the multiple posts, you're down to a half dozen or so a day, right?

Nick -

Please expand on your use of the word "hoax". Also please state specifically what you mean by YOUR use of the term Y2K.

I'm more astonished than most that almost NOTHING appears to have gone seriously bump in the night. As expensive as it may be, who cares if DoD looses a spy satellite? Double credit card billing?... so what, it probably happens to some small percentage already.

But I'm quite interested in why you call Y2K a hoax... so I'd like to know what you actually mean, please.

Hey, trollio, this isn't a "debate forum", or hadn't you noticed?

The only thing that allows you wankers to continue to pollute the database is the shoddy software that makes password implementation impractical.

If decent software (no offense, greenspun, but the truth is the truth) like "The Ultimate BBS" or similar was running here, things would be a lot different.

Don't make the common thug's mistake of confusing a pickable lock for an invitation to burgle.

I have to admit I've gotten more laughs from this forum than all The Saturday Night Lives I've ever watched - AND NO COMMERCIALS.

Yeah, there's fluff, but some of it is damn funny!

Right up there with the cartoon on the back of the SME (ASTME) Newsletter. Good minds, good humor.

Yea, I finally reported my six months old water heater leak as a Y2K glitch! Mostly stupid news on this Forum now. Not worth reading. I used to spend 2 hours a day on this Forum, I now glance for about 15 minutes and I'm off to other places.......

---... go back to your thread about your water heater! I think I've uncovered the REAL reason for the defect!

Hey Nick aren't you having fun. I admit things are a little slow at the moment. But life isn't always run at max velocity is it?
