OT? Has The White Horse Reared His Ugly Head?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The entire planet braced for Armageddon as the clocks rolled over. Help me out. Is it possible that the nothing but wonderful news - "See, I told you there was nothing to prepare for", Polly said - relief we've been experiencing for the last 12 days (manifested by the AOL-Time-Warner bubble.com oligoliplies) was the first of Revelation's Four Horseman? The benign White Horseman.?!?!? Whatcha think? SYSOP: I know just about everyone discounts Biblical prophesy as soon as it's mentioned ("Obviously there is no God! Every clear-thinking WTO-supporting, bubble.com-buying, New Ager knows that!"). Please let this thread live for a while! Let's see what people think about it, please.

I just don't know what the first horseman is. Could you spell it out?

-- Mara (MaraWayne@aol.com), January 13, 2000.

Definitely some White Horse involved here.

-- I'mSo (happy@prepped.com), January 13, 2000.

Can't possibly be the White Horse. It could have been until you made that post because (forgive my inaccurate quote): "No man will know the hour of my return." You're trying to know it!

-- I (dontknow@cantbe.God), January 13, 2000.

Please don't post messages when you're drunk.

Thank You.

I dont'know:

Try looking it up! Read Matthew 24--it's a given that no man knows the day and hour of Christ's return, save the Father only. BUT he did give us a little analogy--involving a fig tree!

My bible is at home...so here's a test of memory...When we see the fig tree burst forth into leaves, we know that summer is near. IN THE SAME WAY, when we see "all these things" happen (see Matt. 24) you will know that Christ's return is NEAR, even at the door.

So we are instructed to be awake and aware, looking forward with loving anticipation to Christ's return, knowing the signs of the season, yet leaving the specific day and time to Almighty God's perfect plan.

The Bible makes it quite clear.

Is that an Arabian?

-- justwondering (justwondering@giveitabreak.com), January 13, 2000.

Mara, the First ("White") horseman is the benign (many Biblical scholars have interupted this to mean "Global Peace") sign of the end-times. I can think of no other point in mankinds existance where the entire globe braced themselves for a catastrophe that never happenned. This would fulfill the scripture (New-Ager, WTO, UN refrain: "Which of course is a bunch of BS - has to be, because there is no God."). I'm not saying the global panic/relief we've just experienced (for the first time in the history of mankind) is the White Horseman. I am saying that I completely believe that the White Horseman will apear and fulfill scripture (just don't know when . . .)

THERE IS A GOD, HE TOLD US HOW MAN WOULD DESTROY THIS WORLD AND NOBODY KNOWS WHEN (that's a fact).

-- Think It (Through@Pollies.Duh), January 13, 2000.

Think:

Sorry! I should have responded to your original post.

Read a concordance and look up "white horse". Then go to your Bible and read EVERY refenced scripture.

THEN, before trying to figure anything out, ask your Heavenly Father to give you His perfect understanding and discernment, to help you understand what HE wants you to know!

NOW read 'em again under God's direction--He will help you understand.

Don't rely on any of us to tell you what to know, or think, or feel, or believe...trust GOD only.

God Bless You, someone@someone.where,

Soberiety is a beautiful thing, I concur. Do you think that only drunkards believe that God laid out His plan in the final Book of the Bible (The Revelation of Jesus Christ (as reported by Saint John))? Do you think that His plan will see fruitation (just not possibly in your lifetime)? I'm not drunk. Discount my argument (which is no argument since all I was doing was asking what people thought on a hypothetical possibility) if you choose. Please recall that I started the thread with "OT?" God Bless You!

-- Think It (Through@Pollies.Duh), January 13, 2000.

snooze buton, Love your posts! Keep up the good work! Neitschzshcshzsche (sp?) loses that argument as Neitschzshcshzsche (sp?) is verifiable dead while the debate about God's vital signs rages.

--I'll go out on a limb here, not a Biblical scholar by any means. I did a small post about this (kinda) elsewhere last week, got no response. see what happens here. At rollover, the biggest remaining question in most folks minds was WHY supposed unremediated countries fared-apparently-the same as countries who had forked over beau coup bucks and zillions of manhours work. Still seems incredible to most, yes?

A theory-the Bible part-who, in the bible, has domain over the earth? Mr. big time nasty with the horns, right? could it be, he or it plain DIDN'T WANT the computers to fail? At least, not right now, anyway, that the net is now-in a strange, little understood but maybe real way- alive, sentient already? The connections, the speed of advance, all the little things are there for a cyber "thing" to grow, and it doesn't want to die? Hence the almost magical lack of major glitches everywhere, to most experts bafflement. Of course, still a lot of smart money on advancing glitches coming, and certainly enough smoke showing last almost two weeks.

Just a theory, I do not adhere to it, it just occured to me in this context. Ya, I know, a little Steven Kingish as opposed to Stephen Hawkingish, but something to think about, for those inclined.

Good to hear from you again!

It's good to know that--even though the enemy has been given effective rule over the world FOR NOW--God is still Sovereign King.

Nothing happens but by the will of God. The book of Job teaches us that.

Be of good cheer sir! My BOSS knows His stuff...

OT! OT! OT! OK? Thanks for your thoughts, zog. Hate to a zealot . . . but God Bless! That's exactly why I started this thread. BTW, Stephen King is my favourite fiction writer. His observation in one of his short stories (can't remember which one) of (completely inaccurate quote): "the fog is rolling in but it's not natural - it's coming in a perfectly straight line. Nothing in nature is a perfectly straight. The straight line is man's invention.") I've racked my brain since reading that (approx. 1987) and the only occurance I can think of where God provide a perfectly straight line is the chrystal.

Here's a theory I recently heard ...

The Beast is the one who is supposed to bring about the downfall of mankind ... right?

The mark of the beast regulates commerce.

Suffers a fatal head wound and yet 'miraculously' does not die ...

hmmmm ....

We have a world-wide computer network using OCR and barcodes for salesm tracking, ordering, etc - y2k fails to drop everything for no explicable reason ....

Interesting theory ... has possibilities.

Michael, Huh?

-- Think It (Through@Pollies.Duh), January 13, 2000.

Read Chapter 13 of Revelation ...

a few points to ponder ...

The dragon provides the power upon which the first beast works ... (Most digital IC are manufactured in the Orient, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia - known in the business world as the - Dragons).

verse 3 - "And I saw one of his heads as though it had been smitten unto death; and his deathstroke was healed: and the whole world wondered after the beast;"

Starting in verse 11 - we have the second beast - who uses his/her power to force the population to 'worship' the first beast or suffer the negative consequences ....

seems that the plot thickens ...

-- hiding in plain (sight@edge of.nowhere), January 13, 2000.

Ummm - Michael, do not look now, but I am familiar with several churches that allow monthly tithes to be charged on one's credit card. They have donation forms available for the parishioners to fill out and return to the church office.

BTW: Mine is not one of them... we neither request nor accept any Tithes.

Zog;

That is quite true, many tribes - including my own, and the one I have been adopted into here - have many teaching stories and prophecies regarding the spiderwebs in the sky and what they portent. Needless to say, it is NOT a happy prophecy.

As an added piece of info ... several tribal elders whom I know, who keep track of what transpires in the world, are aware of the reports of the web-like materials 'alleged' to eminate from chemtrails .... they all seem to feel that they do in fact fulfill the prophecies.

I accept their wisdom, as is our way.

According to one popular interpretation, the arrival of the First Seal Judgement or the Conquering White Horse would coincide with the signing of a Peace Treaty in Israel and the rise of the Anti-Christ.

Like the one that Bill C. is trying to leave as his legacy. As for who the Anti-Christ might be is anyone's guess...

Think It (Through...)

I hope I don't irritate anyone who is interested in this subject, but a great site for understanding end-time prophecies is:

www.tip.org

The opening of the seals is discussed in Chapter 12 through 14. The lessons are all there on that site; click on 'Lessons'.

One intersting point the instructor (author of the book) has made is the sequence in which the seals are opened.

I am not the scholar, and wish I had studied it more when I was young (I was busy rearing a family of five children) but have waited since becoming a Christian 40 years ago for this material.

Mr. Miller will respond to any of your questions by e-mail.

He doesn't consider himself a prophet, if one means telling the future; he's only showing what the Scriptures say, and drawing his conclusions. The meaning of 'prophet' in the Greek (my son teaches classical languages - - Greek and Latin - - at a large midwest university) is 'bearer of a message from God', not necessarily foretelling the future.

"But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober." 1 Thess. 5:1-6

Soggy Zoggy:

Here's your quote: "'The conveniences and comforts of humanity in general will be linked up by one mechanism, which will produce comforts and conveniences beyond human imagination. But the smallest mistake will bring down the whole mechanism to a certain collapse. In this way the end of the world will be brought about.' -- Piro-Murshid Inayat Khan, 1922 (Sufi Prophet)"

Funny thing about the Sufis -- they claim to have been at the core of all religions ever created, and to have been around before the beginning of time -- yet are essentially unheralded in the West. Only one to make a dent in that status was the late Idries Shah.
