Well, I said I'd be back if I had something to contribute...I BEEN BIT!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Yes, it actually HAS effected me! Vindication is at hand...well...sort of...

maybe?

My dental plan, a private plan for individuals, is supposed to deduct $9.95 a month from my checking account...since November it has not done so. I finally called today to find out what the difficulty was/is and the woman on the other end said that it was indeed a Y2K problem and that they had programmers in fixing their system at this very moment.

Trivial to the point of absurdity, I know...but I thought it was worth mentioning. Anarchy in the streets can't be too far behind. ;)

Hey John,

"Trivial to the point of absurdity, I know."

unless you're the insurance company that hasn't been able to collect since November...

Thanks :-)

Mike

Nice to see you again, John :-) Hope they can fix it in, oh, 2 or 3 hours. Easier with lights, phones, water working! Yipppeeeee!

Or unless you're one of their participating dentists who aren't getting reimbursed....

I wonder how long their dentists would wait for their money before they decide to stop participating in this plan?

Rock 'n Roller John Ludi is still dead...

That's a great example of a quiet little low-publicity snarl up that's bound to be causing some people real grief right now. OK, it hasn't hit the general public yet, but there's now two months money outstanding, right? That's getting to the "Pay now or else" stage.

Picture the excuse: "We can't pay you because our system wasn't Y2K compliant."

Response 1: "That's your fault then. Pay now."

Response 2: "Stacey Implants on CNN said Y2K never happend. Pay now."

Response 3: "Watch me not give a damn about the reason. Pay now."

It's a small problem, but it's not trivial. Interesting post, thanks a lot Ludi.

Got bit last November 1999 with DiscoverCard & Compuserve. DiscoverCard was not accepting charges by Compuserve, and so I was charged double in December 1999. When I'd called Customer Service, they told me all Discover charges were being rejected, so it wasn't just mine.

you weren't one of those who said goodbye, now were you? thanks for the report. when you actually look at what this little glitch means-- it could be just the tip of an iceberg. when you think about financial reports, general ledger, reimbursements,....
