greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hi there, nothing much happened today. Only a couple of small thinghs. We have got paid by check done by hand and the Agricolture Dept. in P.Rico experiences some sort of problems. On the 4th arrived 4 containers of sugar from Jacx and we need to get the seal of entry from the agric.Dept. , we are experiencing problems in comunications and we are told that they have problems at the computers. General anserw which does not suggest that they have actual problems due to Y2K. DHL is working fine,we have received packets from Australia in 5 days and from Ecuador in 3 days .I do not know of letters arrived from others part of the world. The Poffice between here and Europe lost sevceral of our letters between 12/18 and 1/3. Of cpourse we do not know if these prob;lems are related to Y2K or whatever. Tomorrow we are strating producing on computer controlled machines.Iwill let know the results. We produce a very delicate product which needs correct dosage of materials and colors. I do not know if the computers need to work with dates or only minutes and seconds. That's all for today 1/11/2000

Until Next time

Yes, Alex, thank you. I wonder what will be happening with sugar prices if shipments get delayed. Anyone remember the coffee crisis oh too many years ago?

Mara...we don't raise coffee, but we do raise our sugar. Florida and Hawaii raise sugar cane and Idaho and environs raise sugar beets. I don't THINK we import any sugar, but could be wrong. Taz
