I don't understand why this site would list fragments of news stories with no links to the actual stories. Maybe I'm missing something....

The problem is this: There isn't enough volunteer manpower to go around at this new site (and we don't have any advertising dollars coming in) to "hotlink" all of the stories. Some of them, in fact, can't be hotlinked to Web sites at all, because one must purchase the articles, or subscribe to the publications in order to view them.

Now, if there was a popular demand for one of the articles (not available on the Web) we would consider purchasing it and redistributing for "educational" use, but still, there are $$$ involved, of which we have few at this time.

If anyone wants to volunteer as a co-sysop--send me an email, and we'll "hot-link" away.

I can understand the problem of not enough hours of labor and money but I don't know why you can't have links for stories that are available on the web. It doesn't take any more time to add a link than it does to copy and paste the story.

Is this your site or are you just a volunteer sysop? If this is actually your site, it seems like it would have been prudent to mention that in the original posting.

I'm just an old-timer on this forum, trying to help make up for the fact that Peter de Jager's timely news updates are going "south" faster than a Canada goose in October.

(Note: I DID NOT say a "Canadian goose." I said a "Canada goose." I guess I've interviewed too many sportsmen to ever commit THAT particular mistake!)

Now, to answer your question more thoroughly Jim, you need to understand that I have access to news stories you will never see in the course of "surfing the Web." It is part of my background, and beyond that, I do not wish to elaborate in a public forum.

Yes, this is my site. Yes, I am a "the number one volunteer" sysop, aided by friends who could historically be described as people who used to tuck "press cards" in their hat-bands.

Having said all of that, there is one thing you can be certain of:

This site will "go south" like the Canada geese (most likely in the next week or so) unless volunteers emerge to rescue it.

I've got the stories.

I need those who can assist with their "Web" publication.
