Can data corruption unravel things and make them start to come unstuck?

Seems plausible, but it probably depends on the volume of data that is corrupted, how soon it is discovered, how difficult it is to correct the errors, how critical the data is, how many other parties it affects, and so on. This is one of the big unknowns that will only be revealed after a suitable passage of time.

Better cross your fingers and hold on to any preps that you still have.
