"Is it the case that whatever calamity overtakes the world from here on in somehow proves the Y2K doom theory correct? "Maybe, maybe not. Who the hell cares.
The important thing is that any calamity that doesn't necessitate leaving our homes might allow us the opportunity to use our "preps," and/or to use them to help others. IOW, we're ready for various emergencies, & a year or two ago we would NOT have been.
That's all that most of us care about. Who's right/wrong about y2k, I really don't give a rat's ass at this point.

If there is a lay-off, an illness, or the world going to hell in a handbasket it doesn't matter as long as you have provided the best you are able to for your family. In 1990, DH was laid-off from his factory job and I from my part-time job just two weeks before Christmas. We had 5 young children still at home. Having been raised to always have a pantry that was stocked for a one-year minimum, we survived and thrived during that dark time. Remember, you never know what may or may not happen, but it's best to be prepared just in case.
