TO REAP THE FRUITS OF OUR EXCHANGES, THINKING AND EXPERIENCE LETS BUILD UPON IT AN ENDURING POSITIVE RESOURCE.

Many very intelligent views have appeared on TB2000 and the differences between optimists(Pollies) Pessimists(doomers) and the Realists (Middleroaders) have entertained and informed many.

The phenomenons of blind denialism and of unsound conclusions have humbled both pollies and doomers.

The doomer has shown the intelligent virtue of prudence...ie: better to have and not need than to need and not have. The polly has shown how denial without basis in verifiable facts is foolish even when luck makes one right .

After the fact all the pollies pull out their rear view crystal balls with pride and most of the doomers are divided between apology and a sense of having put enough fire under government and industrys tails to engender the miracle of remediation.

With no De Jager, no Yourdon, no Gary North, no Yardeny, no Jim Lord etc... the world would likely be up the creek without a paddle in the year 2000.

The point here is that we have convened two distinct human types on this board, ie: the prudent, visionary willing to extrapolate information to envision all possible conclusions and the conservative one track mind who believes with blind faith that our society is infallible, science can always save us, and the authorities are always right.

The value of this board given the coming election should no be underestimated. Birds of a feather were clearly revealed and they form clearly separate streams of influence in our society.

The lack of logic of one group and the absurdity of another have shown the potential for political action on our board. To have miscalculated is sobering. To have guessed right by illogical happenstance can only increase arrogant drunkenness. So those who took Y2K seriously should endeavour to close ranks for they form a very important resource for the protection of this planet and our future.

LET US STAY TOGETHER AND CONTINUE COMMUNICATING AND ALERTING EACH OTHER - Please list yourselves so we may know if this will be possible even after Y2K fades and great new issues arise.

Hear! Hear! I second your approach. Hopefully, y2k will fade away without causing any serious problems but that does not mean that all is well. I am sure other important issues will arise, and maybe this next time the pollies and doomers will learn from their respective shortcomings and their interaction will be more productive.

I'll be listening with an occasional thought.

Here come the fund raisers and lobbyists. Didn't take long at all.

Jerry, you jerk, I don't see him asking for funds or lobbying for a damn thing. Go away.

Aldo, right on. That was very well said, blessedly brief, and most important (to me)- words I can agree with.

Who are you? Have we heard from you before? Maybe this is a new name? (So's mine.) Anyway, stay around.

Greeneyes,

Well, it seems that Aldo is chairman of a fund raising group with a built in agenda chock full of "great new issues" all ready to "arise".

The opening pitch is quite vague. If you want to watch it get more specific, watch his posts.

Greeneyes,

I've posted a few times. I spent the last year trying to warn people about the potential problems of Y2K.

I have no idea who Jerry B is, his intention and character is transparent so no comment. I am chair of an environmental organizatioin that helped save the Cleveland National Forest from the exploitation. Our organization sponsored Ed's lecture in Kailua Kona Hilton.

We run a youth program where school boys and girls go out and help poor and seniors start their victory gardens. My CV is available by visiting http://www.uneco.org click on THE TEAM link.

I really think the forum is a resources where intelligent human beings can find each other and with little effort weed out the negative time wasters. This is a precious cross roads for important exchanges. The Y2K story is not over, the fast sweeping under the carpet calls for much more research.
