Jack Van Impe, What Will He Say?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Jack Van Impe has been preaching that the tribulation hour is just around the corner (not the end of the world, but half the world's population will die according to biblical theories). How will he keep is ministry going without some evidence of doom and gloom approaching? 2000 is here and so far nothing has happened. The six day theory is here, the NWO was suppose to be here by now. So far, it isn't. It will be interesting and fun to hear what he has to say this coming weekend, don't you think? It better be pretty darn good if he wants the money to keep flowing in. Where will he find the doom and gloom?

Answers

trust me. there is still plenty of gloom and doom for jack. revelation is replete with juicy stuff.

Yes, but it must apply to today. I think he will probably go back to the micro-chip implants, Russia out of the north and so on.

-- Larry (cobol.programmer@usa.net), January 07, 2000.

Well, he's been doing all right for several years now, I'm sure he'll come up with something. People can translate the Bible any way they like.

That guy (and his wife) is funnier than $#!t. The first time I caught his show I thought it was a Saturday Night Live rerun.

Hmmm... I've never heard Jack Van Impe say anything was going happen today, tomorrow, or any definite date in the future.

He has always taken the word of GOD and demonstrated how peophecy was unfolding in modern times.

I've never thought him to be full of doom and gloom although if you aren't a christian I can see how you may think that.

You know he has a website loaded with forums and such.

He has even carried on and e-mail conversation with me.

Maybe you should ask him these things.

I have no idea who this man is as I don't watch TV except for news and market reports. But I can tell you from first hand experience that Gary North has kept doom and gloom alive for the past 30 years that I know of. I am going to be interested in what his next theme is going to be.

Who cares? That man is a real huckster. His name, his wife's name and his host's name all sound demonic to me anyway. I tried to look up those verses he spouts off at light speed and most of the stuff he says doesn't even match up...totally out of context and impified.

He is hilarious though. I agree with the previous poster..I'd go for a poorly acted, Saturday Night Live too......

I agree with Johnny's reply.I've got a few of his video tapes and all I can say is it fits in with my take of both the present and future state of world affairs. And he will tell you that he doesn't do date predictions. I think we've all had enough date predictions for awhile.

Maybe we should all be careful and not touch God's annointed. I do not agree with everything Jack Van Impe preachs like the rapture theory but I think he means well. His ministry will continue and there will be tribulation around the corner-we just don't know the exact timing of everything.

As a Christian it is not all doom and gloom-although I am not looking forward to going through the tribulation. But it is exciting to know that we can have eternal life and He will indeed come again to receive His remnant. I pray that we all can be a part of that!

God's annointed? Certainly you have heard of false prophets.

And as far as meaning well, I'm sure Oral Roberts meant well when he said God was going to kill him if he didn't raise X amount of dollars. I guess God's an all right guy, because Mr. Roberts didn't get all the money, and he lived to tell about it.

Some people are just nuts masquerading as annointed ones.

-- Grant Naylor (web@srfin.net), January 07, 2000.

Okay, maybe I should have said that we should not pass judgement on them. Yes we do need to use discernment. Many evangelists and such were mightily used by God and then they fell because they are only human. They can however repent and be used again. Look at Jim Baker-he paid his dues-served his time in prison and now has a book out. I think his book is great and God has restored his life. But this is just IMHO of course.

I believe that Jack Van Impe is a God Fearing man. However,He is just a man. And like all men, sometimes falls into error trying to predict certain events using today's headlines. However, while he may not have the exact dates the things he speaks about will happen. Even if you don't believe the Bible, just look around you-if really dare. When in history has there been such an escalation in war's,natural disasters, disease, violence, etc. Do really think that man has all the answers. That's why he's on the air. He's trying to make people aware of what is coming. Don't brush him off. Listen to what he has to say. A wise man listens to instruction. Don't wait until it's too late.

Never mind Jack....what about Rexella??? Those puppy-dog eyes, red lips.....I think I'm in love......

I just love a woman who can quote the Economist to back up Jack's end-times predictions

-- Johnny Canuck (j_canuck@hotmail.com), January 07, 2000.

Mr. Monroe, I believe the era of the Bubonic Plague, the Crusades, and the Spanish Inquisition was far worse than today, unless you live in Rwanda or something.

-- Grant Naylor (web@srfin.net), January 07, 2000.

I heard Rexella was a stand in for Carol Kane's part in Scrooged as the Ghost from X-mas future.

And Jack - he needs to lighten up a little. I am doomer and when I need a fix, I tune in.

I bet they live in a fortress.

Impe used to live down the street from a friend of mine...we thought he was a total dink then, and we still do now.

I used to be a partner with Jack Van Impe Ministries, untill I started to notice that he keeps pushing the date further and further into the future.I heard him once say,"The tribulation period would begin in the year 2000,however, I believe that he was a sucker just like most of everyone here that thought something significant was going to happen.I myself included.Concerining the six day theory, I heard him recently say that the six-day theory will end in the years 2007-2011.Another date pushed back.It will never end.Gloom and Doom prophets/preachers will always find a way to sell their books/tapes, by simply pushing the date further into the future, hoping and praying that no one has remembered what they said.

-- sucker 4 life (suck@this.com), January 07, 2000.

It doesn't seem that the 1000 year transitions are very sharp, such as a specific date. Instead it seems that these times are a time of transition from one epic to another. Sometimes the epic doesn't unfold for a period of time in a 'scenic' sense, but more in the background.

sucker4life- is that 'partner' as in 'business partner' or 'partner' as in sent in a donation? I find it difficult to believe that someone with the fake email you used was a partner with him. Although I can understand-not agree with-a jaded outlook with "churchianity".

Van Impe is hilarious! My friend and I were watching him one night and my friend wanted to verify his rapid fire bible sitations. Sure enough, he was siting completely random verses. The only thing funnier than the show itself is watching it and imagining the poor clods out there who take his crap seriously.

I swear you folks hacking on Christians who take a stand are upset bacause you don't want to think for yourself!

You're too willing to blame ANYBODY for what's wrong in the world-- while "piously" claiming political correctness because you don't THINK and don't have the courage to believe in something enough to suffer for it. "Joe Six-pack"

Most of these TV Ministries ask for money because they don't advertise...and that's where TV gets its money from. If I take the high road on ANY ISSUE and don't advertise, I'm operating on my own money...precious little of it too. To pay my bills I must earn money.

You poorly treat--despise in your arrogance--North, Yourdon, Hyatt, etc., ad nauseum but you sell your own TIME and EFFORT and SKILLS for money don't you? Am I, Kurt Borzel, a gov't whore because I work for the BC Forest Service and earn my pay as a public servant? Was I an even worse gov't whore when I served three honourable terms in the Canadian Armed Forces?

If a man will not work, neither should he eat.

Judge not, lest ye be judged. For whatever you judge another by, the same shall be meeted unto you.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man sows, so also shall he reap.

And in your wrath remember mercy.

Stand firm in the faith. Act like men, be strong, and let all that you do be done in love.

I like Van Impe and his wife. They seem like nice people even if they might be "dinks". I like his "do". Kinda reminds me of Crouch's wife with the poof hairdo. I never heard Jack give a date for doom or say the world will end. Like what's his name said (sorry) tv church people ask for money and the stuff they sell-tapes,books,etc. help keep them on the air. Even Billy Graham asks for donations. Of course, being flawed as humans are, some like Jim Bakker will misuse the money. I thought of being a tv church guy because people like Oral Roberts and son live in huge homes, have nice cars, etc. I wonder about the vow of poverty? hmmmmm. Billy Graham still lives in his house of 40 yrs. unless I find out otherwise. Anyway, like the other guy said (sorry again) you can always e-mail Van Impe if you like and discuss whatever disagreement you might have. I myself will tell my wife,"time to go watch doomm and gloom". If you believe in God and the bible, you know the time will come someday and what Van Impe says is his interpretation. Billy Graham always ask at the end of his sermons where do you think you'll end up and it's not too late to come to Christ. I guess you believe or not and the ones that don't will usually knock believers.

Why not? Would you rather see someone that looked like they walked out of a Sears ad? Truth isn't and shouldn't be gauged by appearance. Look at the U.S. president. He's tailor made. Who would you prefer to believe?
