Poll - Point in Time Snapshot of Y2K Impact on Your Life 1-10 Scale

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Much has been documented here regarding peoples predictions of Y2K severity on a 1-10 scale PRIOR to the rollover. Subjectively, what is your assessment of Y2K IN YOUR LIFE at THIS POINT IN TIME. Also, what in case you see a different degree of impact globally, what is your assessment of the overall impact.

Personally, my rating would be:

0/0.5

No personal impact/extremely low level impact due to nuisance failures.

I'd have to say the impact of Y2K on me personally has been 6-7 but only because so much of my life is taken up on these boards.

S'all right, though. I don't have nuthin' else to do. I'm at work.

Failures? Yeah, same as you. 0/0.5. But I've got an eye out for everything. If something bigger than a 2 hour airport delay happens, I MAY change my mind.

Only impact at present is literally...we keep tripping over those wretched boxes of preps & today I got the fright of my life when two rats jumped out of the bag of potatoes stored in an outhouse.Globally I agree with your assessment except I think we are going to see a major environmental disaster, due to Y2 related equipment failure, somewhere in the world.Of course we will never been told the reason

A big zero, but........

This is a data problem and the data has not been distributed, shared, analyzed, etc. It's funny how Peter deJager seems to be the notable that's now saying this. In his doomsday scenario of 1993, embedded chips weren't seen as playing much of a factor. He's always said it was the back rooms, complex systems, hence his plane ride over the rollover with such glee that we doomers scoffed at. Isn't this whole situation a mind-bending, puzzling live soap opera?

At least a 6. Teaching all of those Y2K remediation classes, writing test plans, testing, and writing contingency plans...in addition to enhancing my personal hurricane preparations...

No, on second thought, make that at least a 7! Add one for reading some of those Polly postings...

Neither 0 nor 0.5 fit in a "1 through 10 scale"!

Think It,

My utility meter is a Y2K ready ANALOG meter. It isn't deflecting to the 1.0, but I can eyeball it! Maybe your digital meter isn't Y2K compliant?
