Anyone get rid of this respitory infection..what did you do?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

Everyone in my family now has this awful respitory infection you've probably heard about in the news. Some of you also were suffering from it. We desperately need to hear from those of you who beat this thing....WHAT did you use, take, do??? I've been on antibotics for months now...four different kinds. Please let me know !!!

(chemtrail induced, who the hell knows..but we've seen 'em)

Kritter,

I was diagnosed with Bronchitis + sinus infection. I used Zithromax (sp?). Took 2 pills the first day and 1 pill per day for the next 3 days (the medicine is supposed to keep on working even after the 4th day...).

My mom was diagnosed with Asthmatic Bronchitis/borderline Pneumonia + a sinus infection. She had an breathing treatment, Amoxicillian shot, Amoxicillan pills (30), Provintil pills (not the inhaler), and Guituss AC cough syrup. 1 1/2 weeks later she's still ill (no fever but a bad cough), but has returned to work...

Hope you get better soon.

Oops, forgot to add that though I wasn't quite as ill as my mother, the Zithromax (sp?)did wonders - I'm almost back to 100% again...

Around here Dr's aren't giving antibiotics for this plague...not even to the residents at our nursing home....just cough syrup as needed or Br. Tx's. Our whole family has had this since before Christmas...fever finally gone but the cough remains...sounds like a TB ward here....cough syrup doesn't seem to help. Hot showers and Vicks works best !! Plus plenty of hot drinks and Vitamin C.

This may or may not help, but two winters ago, we all had recurring and lingering respiratory infections. Finally, our doctor had every single one of us get cultured, found one healthy child with no symptoms who was a carrier. Eight of us had to go on antibiotics all at the same time to finally kick it.

OK guys,

First, the damned thing (and I had it) is a virus, not a bacteria. Therefore, antibiotics don't do a damned bit of good.

When I first came down I cranked up my herbal immune system treatment. I got rid of the flu -- except for the bronchial problems -- fairly quickly, using the following:

astralagus
zinc lozenges
vitamin C (megadoses)
echinecca
goldenseal

But, when the cough lingered, I added the following:

garlic
cayenne
ginger (for the cough -- works better than OTC medicines) coltsfoot flower
elecampane root (increases expectoration does not suppress cough

I've been on this last bit for about 3 days now and the broncial junk is clearing up -- but slowly. Wish I knew enough to hit the thing with full force when it hit me. Live and learn. Actually, I'd let my immune system go a little and had to crank it up first.

rocky, I don't think she's describing the flu. Might be viral, might not.

Sounds similar to what I'm just getting over - and it has taken four weeks. Asthmatic bronchitis was the diagnosis but that didn't develop until the third week of feeling ill. Had a cortisone shot for the inflammation in the lungs and an inhaler for wheezing. My doctor was out of town and the nurse practitioner didn't feel comfortable prescribing the nebulizer treatment I usually have to have. The inhaler barely helped. After about a week I started to slowly feel better. This is the fifth week and I'm just about over it. Can't believe how long this hangs on!

I have a cabinet full of natural remedies, vitamins, etc. None of that seemed to help this time.

Well, this won't help after you got it. And I'll probably get flamed for this but here goes....I'm a diabetic, so you can imagine that something like this worries me. I've been the flu shot route with mixed results...the results are usually broncitis or strep throat. Bout 13 years ago I started puffing cigars and eating pickled jalapenos daily. I've stopped doing these two things a couple of times [An engagement and one other reason] Both times I ended up getting sick...very sick. Pnuemonia put me in the hospital for two weeks a couple of years ago. I really believe the two items help. I currently puff [no smoke, DON't inhale!] a 5 pack of cigars a day and I eat at least half a can of jalapenos [one can=26oz.] My lungs are clear even with the cigars and I rarely get colds and have managed to avoid the flu[s] going around. FWIW.

Care all and luck.

Satanta, you said:

"and I eat at least half a can of jalapenos [one can=26oz.]"

This is *daily*? regardless of your health otherwise, how are your bowels holding up? Seriously, to a gringo that sounds pretty painful.

Regards,

Frank

Hiya Frank!

Believe it or not, I'm a 'gringo'...~G~ Start out in lower amounts and work upwards. Stomach still good and I've heard jalapenos keep you from stomach and colon cancer as well.

A couple of pointers....don't chow sown on an empty stomach or you'll know you been eating them! Also, don't forget and scratch yourself in/on the privates...or the eyes. Ouchies!

Sometimes it burns going in and sometimes it burns going out.

Get jalapeno juice in your eyes put some milk on a paper towel to wipe. Won't hurt your eyes and the fats neutralize the acids in the peppers. DON'T use water!!!!! Also, drink milk instead of water or eat cheese. I hate bread so I'm not suggesting eating THAT altho others might. };-]

<\b>

Rocky,

It depends on the individual whether it's a viral or bacterial infection. I don't mean to be gross, but if the muscus is discolored (yellow/green or brown) then it IS a bacterial infection and CAN be treated with anti-biotics. If the mucus is clear, then yes, it is a viral infection and can't be treated with antibiotics. However, the person usually DOES take some form of antibiotics to PREVENT secondary infections.

BOLD off.

-- Deb M. (vmcclell@columbus.rr.com), January 06, 2000.

I know, Deb.

Mine has been clear, which is why I say it's viral.

A microbial infection is easier to combat than viral....simply because there are antibiotics. What I'm hearing is that many people are not responding to them, however, (see kritter's initial post....on antibiotics for months, four different kinds) indicating either a resistant strain or a virus.

So, go with the few virus fighter we know about, and all of them are herbal. Oh, by the way, the echinecca is an excellent antibacterial.

We've been using colloidal silver, made at home. It is a proven viral and bacterial killer. I don't have any anecdotal stories personally, but a good friend's daughter suffered from an acute bladder infection and was even bleeding some. We gave her about 16 oz. of cs which she took before taking the prescribed antibiotics and in two days was back to normal, never having to take the antibiotics. You can get a ton of information at silver-list.com. There are many knowledgeable people there who are patient with newbies and will answer q's and direct you to pertinent info.

Here in Sydney, I've had this infection and cough for more than a month now. It is 95% gone, but I still cough and spit quite a bit when I am getting up in the morning. I bought tablets from a health store containing just zinc and echinecca. It appears to have helped heaps. -- I must say that Rocky's concoction looked most impressive! :-)

-- David Harvey (vk2dmh@hotmail.com), January 06, 2000.

Thanks for all your answers. I'm going to look into this echinecca, that's for sure. Satanta, my husband swears by the pickled jalapenos. I just can't bring myself to eat one. Hot showers by the way do give me the most relief right now. And to Deb, I was on the Zithromax once for something else, and it kicked ass. I keep askign for it, but my doctor keeps saying "no, that's not going to do it". Do these guys get commission or something for handing out one antibotic over another??? I had cough/cold turn into pnuemonia, now it's back to bronchitus/sinusitis. Also he keeps giving me Claritan for the drip, which doesn't seem to work for me at all. I've heard people suggest regular Dimetapp..gonna try that too. Thanks for the replies.

-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), January 06, 2000.

kritter,

Give colloidal silver a try. If you want to experiment w/ it, you can get it commercially bottled at the natural foods store. A dose of this won't hurt you, and I have found it to be a very effective bug killer both topical and internal.

Look after yourself and think happy thoughts of central heating and clean running water.

Best,

Many pardons, ours began as a viral problem that evolved into secondary bacterial infections. It lingered over such a long time period, and our doctor finally made us all get cultured. He said he had seen this happen only one other time in his practice. I had disinfected the house within an inch of its life, but only when we all took antibiotics did the problems finally cease.

-- Mumsie (shezdremn@aol.com), January 07, 2000.

kritter, You might be right about the doctors and getting commission on meds. But what was on my mind was, Could the doctors be behind the chemtrails ??? Hey, you never know ? Also I was listening to the news tonight out of New York and they ( channel 4 ) mentioned all the 16 states that had flu like problems. Wouldn't be amazing if the same number of states had chemtrails also? What is really amazing is the people flying the planes are Americans, right ? Is it really for National Security that we get depopulated ?
