Mitch, I started researching putting vhs, 8mm, digital8 on to VideoCD a few months ago. There are hundreds...probably thousands of combinations of hardware and software. Many will get you to a finished product at different quality, different speeds, different success, and at different costs. That 'many' is out of hundreds that will not. My advice is read, read and read some more. Look at manufacturer web sites, searches, shopping sites and take notes. The terms, products, etc. can become a blurr. If you have plenty of money, just jump in. Otherwise, do you homework and talk to lots of people who are doing video transfer especially those who are making money at it. If you can weed through it all you'll be happier with your wallet. After years of fishing from shore I decided to buy a boat and trailer for $300. I needed to fix this and that, add this and that, and replace this and that. Now, I have a $3000 boat. The same boat...but luckily I love to fish. I buy boats differently now. Good luck. Darryl.
