CFTC says error delays Tuesday's commitments of traders report

Chicago--Jan 4--The Commodity Futures Trading Commission will not release the commitments of traders report as scheduled on Tuesday because of a computer processing error--a problem unrelated to the Y2K bug, a CFTC spokesman said.

Also, the commitments reports published on Monday contained incomplete or inaccurate information, he said. A date or time was not yet available of when the CFTC would release the corrected data. (Story .20016)

Cheryl,

The text of your post refers to the CFTC, a governmental regulatory body, but your title refers to the Chicago Board of Trade, a commodity exchange. I don't care much if the CFTC has a computer problem, but I care a lot if the CBOT has a problem because that can mess up my trades and directly cost me money. Does the CBOT have a problem with their computers or not? Please clarify

Bruce,

Whoops. You're right. Sorry for the error. It's CFTC ... not CBOT.

Oooops. Minor error. 100% compliant. Not y2k-related.

Funny, this failure never occurred before in any previous January reports.
