Noticed many reports of US Naval ships in home ports last week with lots of speculation re that. Anybody know anything about their status now?

Schedules for naval ships are created waaaaaaaaaaay in advance. The ship my husband is on currently in port (per schedule) and will leave again soon (per schedule). As far as I know, there have been no changes due to Y2K.

Schedules often change due to budgetary concerns...(i.e. they run out of money) or hot spots erupt around the world. As the world is calm right now (at least with regard to the Navy) and as the fiscal budget does not come up again until around September...things are going swimmingly right now.

Are you guys sorry or what? Better not leave your houses...the FBI along with the United Nations is watching all the time...Y2K is REAL. It is just that you all have been brainwashed into thinking all is well...ITS NOT! RUN RUN You saw the Matrix didn't you? YOU GOTTA BELIEVE

Chris, why don't you sketch out the plot of Matrix for the uninitiated, since you seem to be knowlegeable on the subject?

Just slow down and take a deep breath, exhale slowly.

Wow, could you imagine how people would have flipped out if there'd been FEWER Navy ships in port than normal?

Hey John:

Since you appear to talk from vast experience, just what is the "normal" deployment schedule for the US Navy? What percentage of our Fast Attack boats are Normally out doing those normal fast attack things? Also since you are bringing such experience what are those Normal things that fast attack boats do?

Also: the schedule to have the overwhelming majority of ships in port may have been planned in advance but that doesn't make it normal. There is the distinct possibility that; 1. This administration doesn't have the slightest idea what to do with an asset like the US Navy.

2. There was an agreement, written or otherwise, that the US forces would be in a stand-down mode over the roll-over to prevent the Russians and Chinese from getting jumpy should any problems have arose after the date change.

3. This administration ran out of training money to Rob to defray the expenses of the peace keeping operations and Kosovo bombing runs.
