Among other failures in Florida

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

last night's TV spent quite a bit of time explaning how the Pharmacy System of Humana Corporation (HMO) is all screwed up. Lost Rx, wrong meds being issued, wrong dosages, etc. Some pretty upset people. Lake County in Central Florida is having date problems. When a call comes in it is 1972 and then has to be manualy corrected. So when an officer gets a call, he doesn't know whether that is an initial call or not. The result being that he could be going into a situation of danger but its not been up dated yet. Both these issues can be life threatening. I have yet to be at a store, bank or get any Rxs filled as I was prepared. So can't speak from any personal experience. Most of my friends were prepped and when I asked if they were going to get rid of preps, they were quite firm in their responses of,"are you nuts?" I look forward to all the free time that I will have not having to go grocery shopping. And when the garden comes in I will still can and freeze as I always have. For those of you who are thinking of donating some or all of your preps to the food banks, ask yourself what they are going to do with whole wheat? Do you really think that people who are in need and use food banks are going to have a grinder and the skills to make bread? Give your wheat to a friend that can use it or feed it to your chickens or plant a patch of it for the birds or toss it in the compost pile if nothing else. Don't clutter up the food banks with it. Just my two cents worth.

Good Morning Taz! I know you have a lot of questions for me, and I didn't forget.I'll be in Orlando end of the month, with a little time to spare as well. I'll give a call on the still functioning telephone, and we can talk a bit. Glad -y'all- did O.K.,and thanks for the post thinking about me the other day!

You doomsdayers are all alike. You are so desparate to have something apocolyptic occur that you take the normal range of human error and use it as an example of "the world is ending." Meanwhile thinking you can somehow profit and become something more than the nonentities that you are now. I have made this offer many times: Tell me what Y2K problems will happen, planes falling from the sky, banks failing, hens not laying eggs, etc. For each pone that happens and can be proven to be caused by Y2K, I will pay you $1,000.00. If one that you predict does not happen as a result of Y2K, you pay me the thousand. No one ever took me up on this and I think that says a lot more about the situation than anything else.

To James E. Smith: I definitely found a "pone" that is related to Y2k. Pay up.

No, Mr. James Smith - We are not "all alike". There are many different shades, just as there are many different religions. I've always said that Y2K was ephemeral compared to the population explosion.

Someone like you would probably say there is plenty of room for more. My favorite doomsday scenario is overpopulation, not Y2K, are we all alike Mr. Smith?

What is a "pone" ? I even have an American English dictionary, but all it says for "pone" is "cornpone", which is cornbread without eggs or milk? If you have $1000.00 Mr Smith, I would think you could afford some dairy products. I have both in powdered form, in case I cannot get to the store. Sounds like a lack of preps to me.
