Please don't be premature in your actions. If you look at the Markets Worldwide you will see trouble brewing. A crash is looming!, and you will need all the goodies you have. I beg of you, give it a couple of days before you act. This country can't stand a depression, for there will be a revolution first. Don't get caught with your guard down, HH.

After all the effort,time and expense of getting prepared for the bug my storeroom will stay stocked...great to go out and get a bottle of catsup when we run out. A round trip to town for us is 30 miles. Only thing we need is fresh veggies and can pick them up on the way home from work. Cooking even more from scratch but enjoying trying new recipes...didn't realize what a rut our meals were in. Don't think we've seen the end of problems and it is great to be self-sufficient here in the boonies. Don't be too fast to loose your stash..see what the growing season brings...we had such a drought last year that never was able to can my usual 100 qts. tomatoes....or beans or beets so am glad to have Aldi's near by and a big stash.

This country has been through many depressions (the Great Depression was not the first by a long shot)without revolution. I don't think it likely we'd have one now, not over that.

You are right though that everyone should hold onto their preps. Life is uncertain. Only a fool thinks he'll always be able to see a problem coming at a sufficient distance to prepare just before it hits.

Your Prudent Food Storage FAQ is great, and has been the basis of much of my storage. I printed it out long ago, lest we lose this valuable tool called a world wide web, and refer to it often.

Those of us who stocked up will never again look at a pantry as we did before. My community is facing a 9 earthquake anytime, and my neighbors are pleased at their current preparedness, getting better all the time.

...or if all else (doesn't) fail, how about donating some of the overstorage to the local food bank, or to Meals on Wheels (without which, I might add, many homebound seniors would not eat regularly or well.) Just a thought...

I too, won't be giving up my supplies. A round trip to town for me is 60 miles. Instead of giving it a couple days, I'd give it several months before even considering that things might go back to "normal". But I would tend to think that "normal" times are a thing of the past.

As for that buried cash, it's not going back to the bank. I'm investing in five bred Dexter heifers.

You're right on target. There will soon be a massive global economic collapse never before witnessed in the history of mankind. Y2K was a warning test, and a small percentage prepared for the unknown. Most scoffed and did nothing.

When the hard times come, everyone else will be caught totally by surprise. THIS is when we'll witness a large scale panic. Things will get very ugly very fast. :(
