Y2K Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hello all. I work for a state agency in Oklahoma. Our agency is still finding bugs on a daily basis and unable to create reports with accuracy that could be created without problems before 1/01/2000. I still feel that there is a potential for big problems to crop up, but think that they may take some time to rise to the surface. I never believed that y2k would destroy the world or any such thing, but I do believe in being prepared for potential problems that in my opinion may still arise. I have to say that I wouldn't be to quick to jump on the "We crushed the bug" bandwagon. It would be smarter to sit back and see what happens. Play it safe.... Am I wrong for feeling this way? I don't think so..

Gman - you posses 'common sense', unlike the pollies, who only understand 'conventional wisdom' like y2k is over in three days, I can get rich by sitting on my ass and pouring borrowed money into the stock market, 'I did not have sex with that woman', etc.

Just consider yourself "cautiously optimistic". There are a few of us around who are neither Doomers or Pollys, who I believe fit in that category.

I am new on this Board also and I am just amazed at the different opinions flying around. I think those of us who made some preparations but didn't die at the stroke of midnight 2000 are, by and large, RELIEVED, yet it is still an interesting read to see what is still working and what isn't. After all, if I read that MY insurance company, or MY bank is having glitches, as a consumer, I have a right to know, yes? So just sit there in the middle with me and enjoy the jabber. :)
