Southeast Missouri University Computer Down.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Second day that no billing and no class confirmations.

Have no idea if Y2K related but has been down since the Monday opening of business.

Just another FWIW.

Southeast Missouri has had some very bad weather for the past 48 hours and outages because of the weather.

BTW, not all Missourians are hicks...

Couple of other observations while I am speaking up:

As a network engineer for a large University, I and my staff logged tons of O.T. the past 6 months getting our site ready. I shut everything down last Thursday and brought it back up Monday morning without a hitch. Our planning and hard work paid off. I suspect that most other sites worked as hard as we did in preparation and that's why things went as smoothly as they did - at least for networks.

Here's my own Y2K tale of the day. I tried to order some software with my University MasterCard today which expires 01/00. It is good until 1/31. However, the software vendor kept getting card expired when they tried to process. I called MC and they said the problem is in the software vendor's processing equipment. I called the vendor back and they said it wouldn't go through again. End of story, no software until my new card arrives. : (

Honky Lips:

By simple observation, I think that all of the hicks {using the classic definition} live in places like San Hose and Redmond.

Best wishes,,,
