Question: So what WOULD be adequate media coverage?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Would anything less than Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, and Dan Rather on 24 hours a day since the rollover, pre-empting normal coverage, with "Y2K Crisis 2000" reports with ominous recycled Gulf War music, reporting every lightbulb burnout everywhere in the world and telling us we're all going to die, be acceptable to you guys?

Panties in a knot today, or just a bad hit from the coffeepot?

I've made this point before, but it's obvious, so bear with.

NO BIG COMPANY / ORGANIZATION IS GOING TO GO PUBLIC WITH Y2K FAILURES. This would only hurt stock prices and create liability.

Brent,

Right on...it would be suicide...heroic efforts not to reveal problems...watch the futures & long bond...discount leaks and any other bad news.

See AP report I just posted above as the answer to this spamming idiot.

The tenor of the press coverage is beginning to change. Caught up in the euphoria of the roll-over, they echoed declarations by politicians that Y2K was a 'non-event'. But as increasing numbers of stories begin to surface of the effects of non-compliant software, and as more thoughtful articles like the AP one above appear, the reaction will set in and journalists will start hunting for these stories. And, as time passes, they'll have less and less distance to go to find them!

So just ignore this contemptible idiot. At less Y2K-Pro, et al, had the courage of their convictions before the main event and are recognized members of the opposing team. But this coward is just a "me-tooer", who has popped up afterwards, when he thinks that it's safe to join in the 'torment'. I regard people like him in much the same way as I'd regard looters and muggers.
