Speaking of talk shows, did you see the pathetic Jenny Jones Y2k show? They didn't talk about y2k really at all, just made fun of people prepping and showed film footage of stockpiles of toliet paper, etc. Pretty sad, but then again, it's Jenny Jones.

evidentally we don't reward uncovering the truth anymore. unless it involves someone who is "outside the circle". we value placement and dollars and being part of something larger. maybe if nixon had lived in this time, he would still be president. ???

Even worse was Politically Incorrect. I could hardly bear to watch it. Maher is pretty savvy on some stuff.....but his ignorance is appalling on other subjects.

They are extinct! Corporations now own the media.

Regarding news coverage - today's mainstream media is basically news by PRESS RELEASE and don't forget it. There are very few investigative reporters out there - did have one call me yesterday from Sacramento TV wanting to do a story on Amalgam Mercury Fillings in Teeth (which I speak out about also). But she wanted to do the usual 'balanced' story. I explained to her that we hear the other side all the time - don't worry be happy. How about just covering the other side. They NEVER call in experts from complementary health fields when they are doing a mainstream medical story!

I tried to get our local newspaper to do an investigative story on the readiness of the nursing homes for y2k or other disaster. The head of the department at the paper just DIDN'T get it. She said 'Why'? I explained the problems that may be there. She said 'so, we find that they aren't prepared, what good would that do' (I am not kidding here). I explained that a family member may want to take the patient home for the rollover; they may ask how they can help; they may picket the nursing home; on and on. She just didn't get it. I felt like I was teaching Journalism 101.

I am in alternative media and do investigative reporting for our local community radio station when I can.

That is why it is SO important to support your local community radio station - hopefully you still have one - community, listener-supported, non-commercial radio! They rely on your pledges and monetary support. This IS and WILL be your only source of alternative news, real news, whatever you want to call it!
